I bought the 1ss so I could do what I wanted.I put the leather interior in and the gauge cluster. My registration weight on the 1ss M6 is only 3774 .Last year with just a muffler delete, rear seat out,air pump & jack out, also engine cover,1/4 tank of gas, weighed 3720 at a Pilot truck stop in Syracuse,NY with "CAT" scale system. This year I'll be even less weight, got rid of the cast manifolds in place are Borla headers, resonators replaced with a full X-pipe and installed JBA high flow cats.I hope to be 36 hundred something. Lets face it the 2ss is nice if you want the extras if not,you can have alot of fun with the 1ss,making it what you want not what GM wants you to swallow.Good Luck & enjoy!

Sometimes I really miss LS1tech.com. The arguments there were about cams, gears, and headers. Not cup holders, leather, and visibility. But.....the girls here are hotter so I guess I'll stick around.

Some of you nailed it!

I believe someone needs some justification!

I tried to justify it as well but now wish I had those options and will on my next purchase. (if possible).

As long as the engine was right (SS) I could care less about the fluff features...

That said, I ended up with a 2SS and have no complaints..

"Most of these cars" are daily drivers or damn near to it.
1 point for daily (or damn near to it) drivers!

Let's be honest...

are you talking about a convertible with the top down sitting in the full-on midday Arizona sun or someone who's just too damned lazy to put their sun shield in their windshield? I'll bet those cloth seats absorb one helluva lot more stink that a hot, sweaty, cheesy ass emits than leather seats ever would. No fuss, no muss, no stink.
1 point for using common sense by putting a sun shield in the windshield (or the 'vert top up) and 1 point for leather in the 2SS AND the 2LT. That makes 2 points!

Let's be honest...

anyone who's either read or test driven a Camaro is, somehow, aware of the limited visibility. The Head (not Heads) Up Display doesn't impede anyone's view through the windshield. The DIC, on the other hand, requires one to focus completely on it to read its display whereas the HUD allows for one's field of vision to still include the road.
1...no...2 points for HUD - because it's more safe than taking your eyes completely off the road, even for just 1 second.

Let's be honest...

the gauge cluster, while not "essential", is quite useful. If monitored, it serves as a nice little warning system BEFORE the CEL comes on (call it "insurance"). It kind of reminds me of people who don't check their oil or tire pressure. It's not absolutely essential until you get stuck in the middle of nowhere and wish you had been forewarned...somehow.
2 points for the gauge cluster because it serves a purpose beyond nostalgia and "aesthetics".

Let's be honest...

if you can't be bothered with having your wallet in the back pocket of your britches, don't bitch about the gauge cluster and do what the rest of those do who don't have that little "nook" to put their "umbilical cord" that connects to the rest of the world when they're isolated in their Camaro. Put it in the lidded console, glove box or on your front seat.
2 points for the above-mentioned and 1 "bonus" point for not bitching about the cluster taking up "valuable" space.

...you kind of remind me of this guy...

You make no mention of any of the positives of the things you chose not to opt for. Your comments allow for the impression that you sound critical, in a negative sense, of those who did select these options. Asking for "thoughts" when all you've done is criticize them, is an invitation to point this out.

If you have the need to "bolster your individual confidence in a previous domestic automotive purchase" (or being "chincy"), that's fine, but don't do it at the expense of creating the impression that those who chose a 2SS (or a 2LT) because of leather, gauge cluster and infotainment system, spent money on useless things.

Let's be honest with ourselves...who're you trying to kid?
WOW! You must be educated. HAHA! I hope you feel better.

digital automatic climate control would be nice... honestly that's about the only luxury I miss in the Camaro. Both our other newer GM's have it... leave it set at 69 degrees all the time and never touch it.

And the D.I.C is right in front of you and easy enough to see. So thats 2 points for the 1SS. And last but not least. The center concil gauge cluster. Other than nastalgia. The cluster is usless. It makes you take your eyes way to far off the road. And who cares how much boost you are making just before you die! (Mike Fihnagen)).. Besides its nice to have somewere to set my wallet and phone.. 3 points for the 1SS. So is it really worth spending the exta money for a 2SS?? Share your thoughts....
Did you actually test drive the car, or did you sit in it for 10 minutes?

The HUD can be adjusted up and down just the same as your steering wheel, you can even turn it off with a click of a button. I didn't know people had that much trouble finding a button. It doesn't restrict visibility in any way, shape or form.

The cluster argument I expected to see for the HUD. A quick glance similar to checking your MPH can give you all the information you need from the clusters. Yes, they're that stupidproof. If you have the HUD then *gasp* you don't have to look at your MPH or nav anyway. It's right up on screen.

Put your bloody wallet in the side panel and the phone in the glove compartment where the charger is. Solution.

I live in SoCal during the hottest months of the year, park in the shade or under something and the car is fine. Any heat can be dissipated with the air. Why are you driving a muscle car if such creature comforts are integral to you? I guarantee a hot seat will be the least of your issues once you actually drive it. Especially considering how fast the AC cools everything off.

Either you're trolling, or you need to buy a BMW for the sake of your burning ass. I hear it has cooled seats.

Edit: Damnit you bought the 1LE. Please don't use that cloth argument in public.

I agree there is little validity to the argument that a person would not want the added features of a 2SS for the same money. However, it is very understandable if a person did not get them because they did not think they were worth the money.

I love all of the features in my 2SS including/especially the leather seats that are black. I never find it hot, this car barely has any glass in it to let the heat through. And thats with a sunroof too. On a funny note I test drove the car, loved & bought it. When a co-worker asked me if it had leather I said yeah I think maybe a strip on the sides of the seats lol. I didn't know.... So they were like an added bonus when I picked her up. Cam
