Stealth - here is the thread I was referencing when I did mine. I believe this should work verbatim on your 2011...

Messing with the electrical system is probably the thing I hate most when working on a vehicle. I also love having the radar unit come on and off automatically. I guess we are still waiting on what the pink wire is?

turbo - yea, unless someone else can chime in with some wisdom on the Pink wire in the 2013 mirror (now dubbed - Unicorn - ), I'd recommend running power from the fuse panel on the drivers side. the wires can easily be tucked under the A-Pillar molding and the roof liner, then run down the plastic channel that goes to the mirror.

This is exactly what I ended up doing. It will do what you want in that config...

Actually you can pretty easily install a radar detector without having to run wires through the ceiling and beams, it just requires that we dig a little deeper.

Used the blendmount for mounting the radar detector and the standard 12 inch mirror tap.

Fully installed in a new 2013 Camaro 2LT RS with Sunroof
----------
1) take the dome light case off
2) pop the dome light housing off
3) unscrew the two screws holding the ceiling console on
4) gently pull the ceiling console away from the ceiling (there are wires directly connected to this console and so you don't want to damage them by pulling too hard)
5) locate the back side of the light plug for the air bag lights on the console
6) tap the 12v switched wire and the ground (should be pink/red and black/blue)
7) gently feed the wires to the desired locations
8) put all the pieces back on

Sadly I have no pictures because it took me about 3 hours to figure out what pieces I could and couldn't take off, how to do it without breaking things, making sure I could put it back together, exploring other options etc. TBH quite tired after it all so I didn't really want to run back out there and pull it apart for pictures.

I installed my tap on a 2013...i have a base model so no auto dim or anything....on mine, i found the pink wire on the harness side, if you dont see it on the mirror plug...i did it that way and it comes on and off with the car...it shortens the mirror tap length but if youre using the blend mount it still reaches...

As stated - running the wires to the Airbag light wires is the way to go

All you have to do is remove the roof console via the light, 2 screws and 4 pull out connectors, then run the wire easily by removing the cap over the existing miss or wires, and up thru the headliner. Connect to the RED and BLACK wires, put a wire tie on it, then reassemble.
You can test first to make sure you have a good connection by turning the ignition on and waiting to see if the radar detector turns off and on.
This is an installation on my 2014 ZL1 - red rock.

The 2nd last photo shows how you run the wire thru the headliner.
The last photo shows where the wire lands before you put the mirror wire cap back on.

None of this May make sense or you may not be able to tell what the pictures are until you have yours apart.

Enjoy

Today I finally jumped in and got mine installed AND YES the airbag light connector DOES work for tapping in for switched voltage.
As others have said it is a bit of a pain to get the main whit dome light housing out. I may have removed it wrong as I could find any pics of it being done. The big post on it, none of the pics worked.

The 2 metal tabs to release the housing?? Do you push in the small tangs within the housing or the 2 which you can see through the 2 holes of the housing?? Which btw are one in the same.

Anyway I pushed on the 2 through the holes and it sort of dropped down, but after getting it out and job finished up. When I reinstalled the dome light housing the 2 metal tangs/clips were bent enough that the housing was loose. I removed it and bent them and reinstalled, all good. Works good.

Again the AIRBAG CONNECTOR DOES work as a switched battery source.

Easy. Makes perfect sense. That's what I planned to do, but hadn't located which wires yet. Thanks.
