I live in your area and this past winter wouldn't have been practical to drive my Camaro everyday.

I picked up a '13 Ram 1500 4x4 Quad Cab with a Hemi that I use when the roads are bad. It would easily be my first choice if I was trying to downsize to one vehicle. Power, handling, comfort, utility...it does it all and is a tremendous bang for the buck.

To each his own...In order for me to maintain my '68 Camaro ragtop and enjoy the 5th gen I have to drive one year 'round...I choose the 2011 SS

Nope, and don't intend on ever driving it in the snow, especially with summer tires.

A 3700 pound car with correct snow tires should be fine in most winter conditions. Plowed roads, not an on going Nor'easter etc. I wish I could drive my ZL-1 on non rain weekends, drive my 2SS most days then jump in my Caterpillar snow cat designed by Audi (heated seats!) in bad weather but I am a mere mortal with limited yard area for extra cars.

With the Bridgestone Blizzaks on my v6, the Camaro went better than I thought it would. Although I hate to drive my car in the salty winter conditions, the right tires will do the trick for ya.

We traded my SS in for this ZL1 in December. We put Continentals Extreme DWS 315 on back and 285 in front and my wife drove it daily to work 20 miles/day. It drove better than my work truck. We are only limited by ground clearance. These cars are amazing. Tires are VERY important.
GM's CTF cars were tested in the winter as well. They just took off the summer tires and put winter compound and tread design tires on.
Enjoy your car!

I bought a 2011 1ss last November and drove it all through the winter here in Spokane WA. Drove slow and minded the road conditions with zero problems.

Another thing to think about...aside from the terrible winter we had here in Ohio, some of the roads are destroyed. I'm talking potholes that are 6-12" deep. Between the holes, salt and the snow that isn't plowed in a timely manner, my car would've taken quite a beating this season.

All the people that drive in the "winter" may be on plowed roads. On many occasions this year, my street wasn't touched by a plow all day. When I left for work in the morning there was easily 6+ inches of snow on the road. I don't see my Camaro getting though that, even with snow tires. Snow would've been coming through the grille and getting shot through my scoop right into my CAI, lol.

Each and every situation is different depending on where...who...tires and personal belief. I am no different...and I will share with you my opinion.

I did a southwestern Colorado winter in my 11 rs. Had pirellis scorpion snow and ice tires on. My camaro did better than any front wheel drive that I have driven and was a pleasure. I am of the opinion and pirelli confirmed this opinion that the pirellis scorpion snow and ice are made to be driven on snow and ice full time. A place that even after they plow there is still snow packed on the road. 4" of fresh snow had me giggling all the way to work...split roads of snow..ice...and asphalt was the opposite and frankly uncomfortable.

Can a Camaro drive in the snow...up to 6" any mix with appropriate snow tires...blizzard in this area...absolutely if you take your time and are a responsible driver.

My SS is a DD in MN

My SS is my daily driver, drove it all day all winter (and I'm only an hour or so South of you, OP). Drove fine if you don't go too nuts on all-season tires.

Plus if you drive it in winter you get to do donuts in empty snow-filled parking lots

This winter we got quite a bit of ice, so I threw 200lbs of softener salt in my trunk. Made a huge difference! Before next winter I'll likely pick up a winter tire/wheel setup to give me even more confidence.

Long story short, don't use your p-zeros, don't drive like a dip, and you'll be fine.

Second winter driving my SS with Blizzaks! Honestly love this car in the winter (most of the time). I wound never drive any vehicle without a set of snow tires, my first experience was on my Mazda 3. Believe it or not, it came with summer only tires and I learned very fast that car would not move on ice or in snow with those tires. Got caught in a weird storm a few years ago the first winter I had it, and eventually pulled over, parked the car and called for a ride. Booked in for snow tires the next day.

The only times I get nervous is not so much due to the road conditions but the driving conditions where you just can't see a thing due to blowing snow and it wouldn't matter what car I was in. I also wouldn't take it out on the highway as more crap gets thrown up (I think anyway), was mostly city driving. This was a bad winter across the entire continent, and its one winter I wish I parked mine as it has been hard on the car, but I figure a good detailing will fix most of it up.

And the best part of winter driving are the snowy parking lots, all fun, no damage to the rubber!!!!

If you can handle a 97 in the snow, you will have no problems with the gen5.

Another Blizzaks user here and drove my ZL through some of the worst roads in North America and it did just fine over the Mountain passes. This thing was incredible in PTM mode "Wet" through the snow. Drive it, I'm using mine as a DD and loving every minute of it.

I did pick up some SS wheels though and save my ZL/1LE wheels with summers on them for warmer weather.
