Very very cool! I detail cars in my area. Mostly similar to what you do. Wash/seal/wax/interior.

I only had 7 full paint corrections with customers so far.(admittedly alabama is not what you would call "prime territory" for a detailing business lol). But it pays my car payment/gas/insurance and I get to work on beautiful cars for a job! What could be better than that!

exactly my dream is that my business goes somewhere and i can quit my job and be supported by my business. I just got my guys into wet sanding and buffing last year but they have a lot of work to do before I can turn them lose on customers cars so I only do it myself by special request. Cannot pass up a 1200 dollar job that's mostly all profit. I've done corvettes, a viper, Cadillacs, Mercedes, you name it it's amazing. I actually had a guy request I wash, wax, and seal his murcielago (I live I'm chicagoland) but I had to turn him down. I don't want to be responsible for a 400k dollar car. Other than that business is good. Quite in the winter but 5 days a week in spring summer and fall. We even do undercarage, suspension, and exhaust.

forgot to mention in my previous post that I have a Griots 6 inch(I think) DA. My Favorite pad is the orange foam, though I have grey, white, blue, and so on. also have the three inch adapter from adams as well as a few corresponding foam pads. have an ancient Caftsman variable drill that looks like it was made in the 50's LOL, damn thing won't die. got some foam red cones on sticks that I use to polish the wheels also.

Nice Job!! That's what I want mine to look like!!

Hopefully not too far off topic but I'm looking for a Porter Cable random orbital polisher locally and found one over at Lowes but it's not either model # 7424 or 7336, it is model #7346. I can't seem to find a difference other that the disc/counter wieght sizes are 5.5. I'm impatient and want to take one home this weekend so I can polish a few minor scratches. Is there really that much of a difference between the recommended 7424/7336 and the 7346 that Lowes carries?

Hey..

I have honestly never looked up the 7346, but with my Google fu I see that it is a random orbital. This mean it will move extremely fast in an orbital pattern, but will not spin( or atleast the motor will not cause it to spin). So yes , to answer your question you could. Now, I have no idea what the backing plate on that thing looks like. The backing plate is a crucial part of the system... So you need to see if the backing plate is ok or if you need to order one off of a vendor here that's for car polishing.. If the backing plate is rock hard be prepared to really cause haze in the paint, and if it's too soft you'll be there for days(especially with a random orbital).

Just FYI a random orbital is fine for car polishing, and forgiving for beginners with the right pads, polishes, backing plates. With that said, a random orbital will take an extremely long time(compaired to how fast other machines would be) to correct the paint. So just be prepared to be patient and go over the area more than once with the same compound and pad if you have to! Goodluck.

Very nice! I have an old PC 7424 that I worked with for a while and it never killed over lol. I just got my 7424xp so I have two polishers with one for a back up in case the other dies in the middle of a job lol! And having one as a 3" polisher will be extremely nice.
Do you like your griots? Any issues with durability?

the griot's work great and not one issue other than Velcro not attaching as firmly as I would like, that would be more of a pad issue. it's more power than I would probably need but it is nice to know if I have to crank it all the way up I got options.
