Well, I saw this too, so I guess I'll shoot something here for ya. Oh, and I usually shift 1-2-3-5-6, just because I get 3rd up to about 35 and go straight to 5th; I only use 4th for passing or cruising at 30. Just my thoughts though!

As with GretchenGotGrowl has stated, the manual really doesn't need aggressive gears, just more power. Personally I would go with 3.45 gears if I regear my car at all. (The manual V6s all have the same rear end as the SS, which means we can use their gears, and stock manual SSs have 3.45s). You already have pretty light wheels, but you could get fatter ones and keep the low weight. An IPF super and you will walk a stock 05 R/T, especially if it's an automatic. 2013s are going to be harder to beat.

This is pretty much spot on. I'm an auto with 3.91 gears and 1st gear lasts all of a second and a half. I finish in 4th gear. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the gearing as it is a friggin blast, but if your objective is a 1/4 mile car I would not recommend the 3.91. In a manual you would spend more time pressing the clutch than the gas. I ran a few passes at C5Fest and finishing in 4th gear really kills ya. Not to mention the car just kinda runs flat after it gets up in speed. It was absolutely thrilling to pull on a stock V8 through the 330' but that's about it after that point.

And as far as FI goes, I think a little more pep (like the SC's we have available) wouldn't render a 3.91 setup useless (assuming automatic of course). I have big beefy 315's on my rear tires and burnouts were pretty much inconsequential. I was stuck to the track solidly. I feel that a little boost would help quite a bit, and a nice and pleasant burnout on 315's would mitigated some slippage. TT with a 3.91, I feel, would bar you from being a viable 1/4 mile threat to anything other than a toddler on a big wheel. Both of you would still be at the starting line after 30 secs with your wheels spinning helplessly.

gotcha. i appreciate all the input guys! I think what im going to do is a few suspension and basic bolt ons and get all my ducks in a row and eventually pull the trigger on an ipf supercharger. that along with a 1le suspension pack and some brembos should make for quite a fun HPDE car!
