A new Z-28 with taxes is close to $100K around these parts and that will buy you a smallish house if you look around.

I'm an oilfield tanker driver so I do okay. I'm just more frugal than most. I also think the base v6 is 95% of what a decked out v8 is in terms of seat of pants feel and enjoyment one gets from driving either one. So why spend 40 when I can spend 22 and get 95% of the same car imo.

I hope you don't live to regret spending so much on cars later on. You will eventually imo unless you have a money tree out back or have the fountain of youth available so you can work unlimited years.

Or unless he regularly puts money away into a retirement fund, pays off his house by the time he retires and is happy to live a little less lavish when elderly. Perfectly reasonable plan.

I've seen people save all their life - doing nothing with their money while they're young - and then eventually, doing nothing with it when they're old and end up leaving a pile of cash to their dog.

I paid 32500 for my 2011 2ss and honestly around here you can get a nice home for 90,000+. We paid 105,000 for a 3 bed, 2 bath home renovated right before we bought it.

$40K is NOT super expensive. It's par for the course these days if you want something really nice. My work car, a 2013 Cruze RS, was $21k. It's a nice car, but it just doesn't have the allure of the Camaro. You want expensive? Price a new, decked out Suburban ($75-80k ).

You have a lot to learn. Camaros are made in Canada. No car is worth $40k? That argument is subjective.

Dealers are individually owned. GM does not own them.

This is clearly someone who hasn't fully reached adulthood in the mind. Arguing or proving points is useless.

I want a new Camaro for 22K out the door right now, dammit! hahaha

If you're willing to deal, you can find one. LAME excuse that they wouldn't match 22k and you walked over a hundred bucks or so. Maybe have to drive a bit more, but you can find a deal on a Camaro. Sounds like you just really don't want to get outside your comfort zone. I'm amazed at the amount of people that won't drive an hour or two to save hundreds or even thousands for the same exact vehicle they'd buy locally.

The wife and I are poised to make more per year in retirement than we are now working. Because we had a plan. Save X percentage first, then have a rainy day fund, and then whatever's left over, enjoy. Hasn't always been easy, but we have a bunch of vehicles because we can afford them even if we don't have to. What helps is no kids, and nobody to leave anything to.

Pretty simple, pay yourself first by saving X percentage of your paycheck in some retirement plan of your choice. Keep a stash of emergency funds, pay your bills, and then whatever play money you have left over, go live life.

Gettin' old isn't for pu**ies. And neither is Camaro ownership.

Here's a new 2014 V6 Camaro for $22,887.00
http://www.rodgerschevrolet.com/Vehi...-MI/2165296853

That's for a 2014. I'll bet you might just be able to find a new 2013 still on a dealers lot somewhere for less, or perhaps a lightly used 2013-2014 for under $22k.

I know the camaro is built in Canada. I was just pointing out that gm has quite a few things made in Mexico. I won't buy any car made in a third world country. Period. I'm happy that GM is bringing back Camaro production to the states. When I bought a new ford truck I left the made in Dearborn sticker on the windshield because I was proud of that. I'll always choose to support fair wages and not cutting corners with my wallet when it comes to automobiles.
