Piston stop in #1 and dial indicator on intake #1 pushrod.

Finished up over last weekend and been tuning it. Drivability is awesome, no apparent loss of low end torque. Likes to idle at 800 rpm, stock is 600 rpm warmed up. Fuel trims look great. Next, put the wideband back in and tune PE.

sounds awesome! Nice job with excellent pics and discussions. We needed this as most ZL1 owners are too afraid to tackle this job. In many ways this is more straightforward than an old school small block.

oh...forgot to ask about the valve seal install. Was a little plastic sleeve required to slip over the valve stem to prevent damage to the new seal?

I have seen those come with valve stem seal kits in the past for older small blocks. But never gotten one in a kit for an LS engine. The seals slip right on easily and didn't hang on the lock grooves at all. I oiled them up first also with Mobil 1 to slid on easier without damage. Then also lubed up the valve stem tips and pushrod tips with assembly lube.

Last thing, Brian. Can you post the cam card or complete specs of your cam? Thanks! If you dyno again, post the hp/tq increase and how much fuel you had to add in the tune for PE. How much did the duty cycle change post install? Did you reuse the front cover gasket, water pump gaskets, and crank seal? Rocker trunion upgrade?

This tool is the sh*t. If your tuner doesn't know how to use it, they should.
Here is my final Vitual VE table.

That's the problem I ran into. The tuners I encountered that use HP Tuners either didn't trust the Bluecat tool or didn't want to take the time to use it. Their solution was to disable the blended fueling and make the tune maf only. My car wasn't particularly happy running maf only fueling.

Very informative thread btw and nice looking graph.

Idle quality after tuning. 800 RPM and A/C turned on.

since you have it dialed in on the tune...how does the car feel vs stock cam power band? Looks like a great cam spec. It is almost exactly like their "stage 2"...is that because of the one bolt stock type style vs 3 bolt gear? I may have to do this swap also if is worth at least 30rwhp. Amazing the cam kit and other assorted parts is less than 1k. Did you do the trunion rocker upgrade too?

Only $729 to be exact.
No, no trunions.
It is actually closer to the stage 3 as far as overlap and valve events. BTR stg 2 has -10 deg overlap and no lope to it. I speced it out to have -3 deg overlap and close the intake valve a little earlier. The intake close on the BTR Stg 2 and 3 are both very late.

Runs very strong but I still haven't finished the tune during PE so I haven't opened it up completely WOT. Let you know when I do. And I'll have it back on the dyno sometime soon. I'm expecting a lot more than 30 hp.
