To answer the original question, PM fbodfather directly with all the information. Don't be offended if he doesn't respond to the PM. Rest assured he will get it. A LOT goes on behind the scenes...

Thank you, I will do that now. I did not want to turn this into another rant. I simply don't believe that GM would condone this if they knew about it. I think the Camaro is the kind of car that will have people excited about buying American if dealers would simply play it straight.

1-800-222-1020 or 1-866-790-5700, Make a complaint and be sure to get a case number. I am practically an expert on this issue now.

As of now the card company credited my account.

I have obviously been pretty steamed over this. I posted about it here earlier. Since then, other members have sent me PMs to tell me this dealer did the same thing to them.

I believe I have read here that ordering a vehicle as sold under one name with the intent of selling to someone else is not an approved process by GM. Can someone who is knowledgeable tell me the best way to contact the company and file a formal complaint?
Please keep a copy of that original production order number and/or VIN from that car as well as the dealership you finally dealt with. Everyone who ordered and/or purchased a Camaro will soon have the opportunity to evaluate the dealerships they have worked with. This will be a highly visible process and I assure you that the proper levels within GM will see your evaluation.

If they don't sell me the car, will I be able to evaluate them?

Yes but you must have the original purchase order number (usually 6 letter starting with an "N") or the VIN of the car that you ordered. We want to be sure you were an actual customer.

Hylton,

Thank you. I have an email from the dealer where they cut and paste the information for the workbench order. It shows the number and all my options ordered. Is that good enough?

I have all that documented. do I need to request an evaluation if I am unable to purchase the car, or will they just send it?

I am talking about something that is not a GM initiative. I would ask that question to GM customer service. Perhaps they can send a survey out to you.

Well unfortunately the dealership was well within their legal right to do what they did. The car is not yours until the keys are in your hands.

But GM also has the right to punish the dealer through reduced allocation for violating the terms of the system right? Isn't it still really the same as the preorder system where a bonafide SOLD order has to be attempted to be delivered to the name on the order ? They're all SRE orders were talking about, not stock orders.
