I have considered getting the V6 some times, but since the base V8 will get reasonable mileage, I'm going to stick with it. I would consider the Volt of fuel savings make it cheaper to own over a period of 5 years. Even then, I'd only consider it
You mean GM's EV1 experiment? If you meant the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 1, please ignore the following. Short answer for what happened to the EV1: they got crushed. The EV1 was supposed to be like the Volt, an extended range electric car, but California mandated that X# of cars needed to be 0 emission. So the EV1 became a heavy, limited range all electric car that was impractical for most. After the leases were up, GM crushed every one they could get ahold of. A full detailed explanation hasn't really been given. Who killed the electric car? I blame California, the ones who wanted it in the first place. Many engineers who worked on the EV1 were put onto the Volt. I'm sure that an early name for the Volt was the EV2.

Not sure which option to choose for my thinking, so I chose "maybe". Basically I may get a DI V6 vert instead of a V8. It all depends on the test drives honestly. But lucky me (sorta) I get to wait a bit longer for my car to release so I can try out as many coupes as possible to gauge both packages.

Also, even if you're going to assume that the Camaro will get 27 combined, why not look at how many car are above 27mpg instead of 30mpg? That may be a surprisingly fertile area...Quote:

I was a little worried before i learned about what the gas milage a camaro would get, but im more than happy with 27mpg for a camaro, It's a muscle car, its not supposed to get 40. I've waited too long for it to affect my decision. The car means more to me than getting good milage.

EXPLATIVE - NO!!! I have a DD and only plan for this car to be a weekend cruiser and track player. Gas is a concern, but if GM makes a Super Camaro, I want it.

I want a performance car. If that means that I have to get a performance V6 instead of a performance V8, I'm okay with that.

Of course, those willing to go tediously slow and make large amounts of effort could do even better, but it's highly unlikely that such people would buy a Camaro.

I think the only thing I've done because of gas prices is basically change from getting the SC V8 to just the Standard V8. But, I could change my mind. I've tried to figure out this whole gas thing, I fell short. However, I still think Ethenol is the way to go. If we can just produce more corn and wheat to off set the demand for food for gas. Then again my plan is to by a volt and then just drive my gas guzzlers on the week ends for now. I thought I knew, what this economy was headed a few months back. I knew there was going to be a spike in gas because of Summer travel. I just didn't think it would be this high. I know I am voting for John McCain though. I think we should see a change after the olympics and the election.
I have to say this though, Come hell or high water, I will have a Camaro!

Is this V6 mpg? Since nobody told me for SURE which engines we will get I will be plenty happy if the V8 mpg is equal to the LS1 mpg.... which would almost get 30 hiway mpg when driven nicely, I think it was rated at 25/26 hwy (02 Z/28).

Everything I Currently own is a V8 (or has a v8 ready to go in it)The two vettes get the best gas milage out of all of the cars lo.
So my answer will be no When the Vert comes out we will get one. |
