I'm in the trade up camp.
Many reasons to go with the V8 and a car that is engineered to handle 400+ HP. |

I think our 5 gen V6 our the most robust V6 Camaro's to date.
Beefy suspensions and drivelines to boot. Easy to upgrade as most of the V8 parts will fit on ours too. I think the stock V6 can handle up to 400 RWHP before things start breaking. Ask my how I know!

Well....
I just installed the SS Brembo (rotors, pads and calipers) and everything was basically bolt on. The only thing I had to do was upgrade the rear brake shield as the stock V6 are too small. And replace the brake mater cylinder. Some folks skip this but I wanted to follow the GM approved upgrade install kit word for word. The only OEM part I didn't install was the Goodridge Stainless Steel brake lines and DOT4 brake fluid. I track my car so... I'll be installing a complete 1LE track pack suspension on my car within the next few weeks as well. All basically bolts onto our V6 cars!

What about our trans? Or any of the other drive train or suspension components. How long will they stand up to the increased stress produced by the added power? If you want to mod your V6 more power to ya. |

1LE package for our cars is $1500, for starters. That's pretty, ah, "robust" quality. Get Brembos from an SS guy off the forums. Transmission is not an issue (GretchenGotGrowl's transmission was still going at 500whp, he just upgraded it because he had everything apart). Cant C Me has a TT manual and has for a few years, so the manual isn't a weak link either.
The car is not a glass box. Lol. And upgrading to a comparable SS/1LE is not cheap.
