People with longer legs may have a problem with this. I'm 6' and I could easily turn the car off by hitting the key with my knee. I was surprised how easy it was to do actually.

However: I had to have my steering wheel in the "lowest and most extended" position and be sitting fairly close (too close?) to the steering wheel... But I suppose since it is so easy to do that is what surprised me. Edit: It only took me 1 try to shut it off unlike the OP's video.

Shouldn't this thread be moved to the "General" section instead of Z/28 specific since it affects all new Camaros?

I'm still anxious to hear back from Jake on this.

Recall replaces switchblade key for old key+separate remote

The solution for idiots who have too much crap hanging from their key chains and are cutting their car off with their knee is to switch the switchblade key for an old 2 piece design where the remote and the key are separate pieces.

I will not be taking my car in for the recall. I like the all in one design. We never heard about this problem with the Volkswagen and Mercedes. I hate that it's not politically correct to just come out and tell people they're being stupid and it's not the car's fault.

If they were switching to a push button style I would take it in, but the last thing I'm going to put up with is more crap in my pocket everyday.

I don't think this recall is about keychains being too heavy, but about people's knees hitting the key fob and...somehow...turning the car off?

I'm tempted to try doing this to myself, to see how easily it happens.

Finally it. Arrived in port in Sweden this Monday, i've even recieved the license plate number.

Now though they tell me its not allowed onwards from the harbour until the stop is lifted. If it had arrived 1/2 week earlier I would have got it. :(

Does anyone have any idea about how long it will take until they lift the stop? Are we talking days, weeks or months?
There is no word yet. My dealer is checking multiple times a day with GM but they are mum on the issue.

This has been talked about over and over. I feel you OP but Admins just posted a message saying you will be whipped with a wet noodle and hog tied or something to that effect if you don't post in the right subforum. This goes with the rest of the warranty stuff i think. Just don't want to see this topic brought up and ranted on again. I certainly don't want to see you hog ties either.... :-)

It's about all the junk hanging from it and that's what people's knees hit. I've actually had it happen to me while driving my roommate's car

Since the fob part has so much mass and sticks out farther than a normal key head it's easier to flip it off

I'm 6"1 and don't see how its even possible to bump my key while in a normal driving position. Not a recall I will participate in, especially if the solution is to downgrade my key...

I own an audi that uses the same key style. Don't see them recalling anything. Guess GM damage control is gone hyper sensitive.
