I like my key. I am no where near the key when driving. I have plenty of room.
Me, you and a lot of other people.

So you have to keep the massive fob anyway, plus have another key? Oh, hell no. I'm keeping my switchblade.

Personally, I like being able to shut off my car with my knee..
It's a feature, not a problem!!

It is a nice feature when your hands are full.

Edit: Now I am wondering if this all came about because someone was trying to drive with their knees and bumped the fob.

If you come in for service they cant do the recall procedue unless you carry both of your keys with you. Also I dont carry around my purchase paperwork so i am good.

The recall will require separating the key from the fob
and replacing the key. The original key will be scrapped.

The customer can contact the dealer to have parts ordered
and once they arrive can have the recall performed. The
customer brings the car to the dealer with the car,
proof of ownership and both sets of keys. The fobs will
be reworked and the new keys programmed.

New vehicles will begin shipping from Oshawa on June 23rd
with the new key and fob.

Eh....doesn't sound like much of an urgent "re-call".....Customer has to call dealer first so they can order parts?....Then, wait for them to arrive?...lol...

....I don't think they'll have the phone ringing off the hook with owners ordering replacement parts....Seems like a method designed to make sure it never gets done, and only gets done if the owner starts the ball rolling on a three stage process and turns in two sets of keys...lol...

I say it looks like if you are not a fan of the re-call, you got nothing to worry about....

Proof of ownership?

WTF. I arrive at the dealer with the car and two sets of keys, but they will ask me for the title?

Sure, I will go to the safe deposit box and retrieve that. BTW, my rate is $500/hour for that service.

GM, get a clue!

That may or may not have been how I shut off my roommate's Jetta...

Probably a matching registration and driver's license would suffice....

But really, to me, it sounds all pretty "voluntary".....
