Long Story Detailed Car Short Love ADAMS GLAZE and Americana WAX.
I did not start to detail my cars until my first Camaro purchase (2011 Synergy Green Camaro). I mean sure I would wash and wax from time to time but never clay bar or polish my cars. So as anyone would do I used my local shop to provide me with products. That shop is Griot's, I enjoyed most of their products but I wanted something different. I was not sure so I did some reading and found Adams and decided to give them a shot. Below is a list of products I used for my detail days
Griot's Soap Clay Bar Speed Shine Polish #2 Orange Pad Buffer Adams Glaze Americana Wax The reason I did not use Adams on all aspects of this detail was a cost thing. Plus the Griot's products worked for the most part. I think sometimes its 50% Product and 50% the person applying the product. I did my best to do what I could in the limited time I had. Step (1) wash car, (Friday) almost done then son comes over and wants to take Dad and Mom out to eat. So I dried everything except for the rims and tires. He really wanted to eat... Son drives a Kia Rio Sport Edition so I don't think he knows where I am coming from when it comes to car love. So Car is washed and dried without any work on rims and tires. Step (2,3) Clay Bar and Polish, (Saturday) Clay bar complete car is nice and smooth. I try Griots Polish 4 and Orange Pad... Well that's a finish grade polish and well does nothing to cut the spider webs as I call them. Move to Polish 2 and a different Orange pad. As we all know use a different pad for each polish or wax. That seemed to cut the car pretty good, although I think the deep stuff could of used a Griots Polish 1. Though since reading and watching videos maybe the paint needs a micro fiber type pad. QUESTION: Does anyone else find cutting swirls (spider webs) hard on the Camaro Paint? Really need advice on what works. Is it foam pad or micro fiber pad. Again son comes over and wants to take us out to a movie... UGH does he not know I want to work on my Chariot!!! Blarg!!! Then he chooses the longest movie in the world Transformers III. Quick review not as bad as I thought, although I did not like 1 or 2. Worst thing I could say, why is the daughter even in the movie. Yes she is cute but really she wasn't needed as part of the story line. Step (4) Glaze, Sunday I will keep this short WOW. Now mind you I have not used glaze before but damn it turned my car from Dark Red (Crystal Red Tint CRT) to a Cherry type dark red. It is hard to explain, the first coat I applied was like it made the car pop. I had taken a step back just to make sure it was not a placebo effect. Yah know I buy"X" so now I love it that kind of thing. Even later on that day it was very amazing. I like Adams Glaze and the color it brings to my car. I am sure with follow on layers it will get better. Also the application of the glaze was so easy and haze was almost immediate. To remove the glaze I used the blue microfiber towels from the rag company. BTW, I ordered on a Friday Midnight and the RAG company had my towels to me on that next MONDAY!!! That is free shipping!!! Those towels were $5.00 each and well worth every penny!!!! Step (5) WAX Sunday, Next question how can anyone apply allot of the Adams Americana Wax? I used the applicator that came with it and the wax was very hard. What I mean by hard is I rubbed the pad in with light pressure to remove a little at a time. I also did one panel at a time, again it went on very easy and hazed up almost immediately. I used the towel that came with the set from Adams. The microfiber towel was very very soft and thick, I would say almost like a diaper. No son on Sunday so I finished up the car with another bath / dry. Final thoughts, I liked Adams Glaze and Wax!!! The color is just amazing and if that is not enough I had someone staring very very hard at my car. Yes that has happened before but this time it was strange. I also seemed to of attracted unwanted attention from a certain Mustang owner. A story not to be told here at C5. Enough to say .... A 1LE can corner, it was not a fair fight ... I was not looking but... was antagonized by certain owner... Griots, I enjoy the product just wish I could find the correct Polish number / pad type then just doing it until I figure it out. Also the product is only as good as the person applying it. So far I am getting better not worse. Last but not least the final product of my labor... THE PICS. |

Looks good! A hint with the Americana (well, paste wax in general) - you don't want to apply much. The thinner the coat the better.

The car looks GREAT and that's a solid weekend of work!!
The Brilliant Glaze and Americana combo is often referred to as "The FaceMelter" for good reason. ![]() Quote:
Keep the coats thin, that's the key to success. |
