There is something very wrong with this story. I don't believe it.

If functional, will it deflect or redirect water (or other potential foreign objects) that may enter the engine compartment from rain )or just from being sucked in through the scoop)?

Generally speaking, if YOU alter (or have a non-GM certified mechanic alter) the functionality or performance of your car... some or all of your warranty may be voided if it is determined that YOUR mod caused a failure.

When it comes to warranties, one size does not fit all.

Nice looking scoop, Bird, but what kind of warranty work have you had done since it was installed? I'm not suggesting that an aftermarket hood scoop would void your warranty if your rear axel breaks, but what about something that could have been caused by the scoop being installed? What if GM determined that (somehow) water got sucked into the engine because of rain coming in through the scoop, and your engine was ruined. You think your warranty will hold up? I don't think so unless, maybe, the scoop was sold and installed by your dealership (which I doubt it was).

I'm just grasping at straws here and my "what if" is certainly far-fetched, but I don't want salva (OP) to think he/she is guaranteed to be home free to make this mod (or any functionality mod, really). Chances are there will never be any issue, but it's not a lock. Just saying...

You say the dealer is working with you. I say bullshit. They are the ones causing you this grief if this story is true which I have no reason to doubt. I had my dealer install performance mods on a couple of my cars over the years and still never had an issue with warranty. You know why? Because I have a good dealer that really does work with people on these things because they are car guys too. They have ways around things if they really want to warranty something.

I'm sure if this thread goes on long enough, you will find someone who claims their entire warranty was voided by installing fuzzy dice.

I'm always surprised what people will put up with and just shrug it off blaming GM when it's their asshat greedy dealer, who is at fault.

Just move on and find a mod friend dealer. No point arguing with them every time that the fuzzy dice on your mirror had nothing to do with your trans going out.

Under hood I had the air box replaced because of a cracked latching tab, I haven't had any other under hood issues.
Well since rain getting into the engine is impossible due to the design of the water drain system, and the air intake I have no concerns with anything ever happening like that. In fact since I installed it we have had torrential downpours, snow, ice and not one problem.
Now if the water dumped directly on the engine or electronics I can see them not honoring any warranty on those components if they can prove that it was the cause, it will not void the warranty on anything it could not affect. Anyway the question was will it void your warranty, just installing one will not void your warranty. The only comment my dealer has made is it looks really good on there...

Well we agree on this - Installing the scoop will NOT void any warranty. Now, what if down the road OP has issues with the paint on his hood? Are you saying a dealer (or GM) couldn't find a way to blame it on the aftermarket scoop? I'm just saying there is no way to guarantee that a mod (any mod) won't possibly effect some specific portion of your warranty, under certain conditions.

I understand what you're saying, and agree at face value. I just want OP to understand "future issues" may be effected by any mod he may do or may have done. That applies to all of us.

I think you misread my reply, I did say it was possible they could but they would have to prove the mod caused the problem. They just can't say it was because of the mod. And it could only affect components the mod could damage.

So what if he replaces his current hood with an OEM say SS hood or ZL1 hood should be no issues after all it's an OEM part?
