General Motors Future Product Preview...

GM's letting some folks into their design studio to view some future products...no pictures obviously...but the people there are tweeting details as we speak...

Customers @ GM Design, Info Tweets Abound!

So far...

CTS-V SportWagon being considered for production, CTS-V/CTS-V Coupe still on.

3-series fighter Alpha-based Cadillac ATS in development...sedan/coupe.

Cadillac XTS on Ext. EpII unveiled...said to be a "beautiful car."

Orlando Concept no more. Try Orlando production model. 7 passenger.

Spark = 40+ MPG.

Next-gen Aveo is "impressive with large grille and assertive design."

Next-gen Malibu looks "hot."

Regal coming next year.

Converj approved for production? Maybe.

More to come...

I hope their 3 series fighter will have a performance based character. Can't wait to see the Converj, as well as the new malibu! w00t.

CTS-V SportWagon being considered for production, CTS-V/CTS-V Coupe still on. I'd kill for the chance to replace our Taurus wagon with a CTS-V wagon. Probably too rich for my budget though. Even a CTS wagon is out of the question for some time. Still, a man can dream...

3-series Alpha-based Cadillac ATS in development...sedan/coupe.

Given the crap we'll be getting with the XTS (see below) I do not have high hopes for this. I fear what we'll really get is something more along the lines of yet another Delta II rebadge

Cadillac XTS on Ext. EpII unveiled...said to be a "beautiful car."

OK fine it looks good, but it doesn't change the fact it isn't competitive with any luxury flagship besides the Acura RL, is little more than a rebadged Chevy, and competes primarily with Buick. This is Bad Old GM all over again.

Orlando Concept no more. Try Orlando production model. 7 passenger.

OK now this is good news. You scared me at first saying it was no more, haha. This will make a fine HHR replacement. I just hope the third row stores flat for more cargo room.

Spark = 40+ MPG.

Sounds good. It will be interesting to see how this competes with the Toyota iQ. Assuming its transmission doesn't rip your head off with each shift, it is safe to assume it is better than a Smart.

Next-gen Aveo is "impressive with large grille and assertive design."

Not sure what to make of this. It seems like lifting the bold two grill, thick center bar design from the Malibu/Traverse/Equinox, etc just doesn't translate right on smaller cars. They seem to need something daintier. Hard to tell how Chevy design language has translated given this quote. We'll see tomorrow.

Next-gen Malibu looks "hot."

Wow, two years in advance. Seems a little far off since we're not expecting it to be revolutionary.

Regal coming next year.

This is the one based off the Insignia right? Great, another Buick to cannibalize Chevy sales and marketing dollars, and possibly Cadillac sales, given their new apparent All FWD focus now.

Converj approved for production? Maybe.

Volt should have been a Cadillac from the start. The costs make much more sense this way.

More to come...

I don't understand these comments. Not attacking...just confused.
First, I thought you were CRAZY hoping for an Alpha Cadillac...Second, what 'crap' is the XTS, we haven't even seen it, yet? How isn't it competitive, ect...I guess my biggest confusion is how you know so much about the XTS.

XTS is Cadillac's full size sedan built on the EpII platform. The reason it's so controversial is because of the whole FWD vs. RWD debate.

Another rumor says that the FWD XTS is still on, but the RWD Zeta flagship is also still in development, effectively allowing Cadillac to maintain DTS owners as well as attracting 7-series and S-class owners.

Geeze...rumors....and more rumors.

I think...what with the new GM having been newly operational...2010 NAIAS is going to be one helluva show. I may even go this year...

The XTS will be at worst a rebadged LaCrosse and at best still riding on a platform that was specifically designed to provide sedate, basic A-B type transportation. Flagships are supposed to showcase the best a brand can do, but GM is simply guzzying up a car from a lesser brand. The XTS and LaCrosse will directly compete primarily with each other, wasting marketing assets once again.

I did indeed want an Alpha Cadillac, and still do, but I don't trust GM now to not completely screw it up. So far, I've heard conflicting reports whether it will be FWD or RWD. Given how Cadillac is just using what at the time will be an older plebian platform for its flagship, I hate to think how little effort they're going to put into their entry level model. If the XTS is going to be little more than a rebadged next-gen Impala, why wouldn't the ATS just be yet another use of the Delta II platform?

So for the most part....your concern is concentrated in the RWD vs FWD debate?

Because it won't be. Alpha's already in development.

I am so done fighting about this.
