Pulling Fuses 5 and 20 for a long trip ...
I heard resetting the cars brain by pulling fuse 5 and 20 was a good way to get more power out of your car as it tries to relearn your driving ability.
Just wondering, Im taking my ZL1 across western Canada approx. 2500km ~ 1000 miles. If I reset this, do you think this will increase my fuel economy? Not that I really care a whole lot as I bought the car to enjoy but I will be driving at 110 km/hr for about 20 hours straight so I thought I'd ask the question. Thanks guys. ps. Once Im in the next city, I figure I'll pull it again, reset it, then go back to my aggressive driving

If you used some cheap gas and the ECM shifted to Low Octane Spark table it would speed up returning to the High Octane Table by pulling the fuses. If you always use premium pulling the fuses is a waste of time.
So unless you got some cheap gas it is no help. It will learn like it's supposed to without any help.

It has nothing to do with the way you drive. As stated above, it is for getting your car back on the high fuel map (more power) after having low octane fuel put in it. If your car has never had low octane fuel in it, then it is worthless.

Ohh, ok thanks guys. I use 91 octane everywhere I go. I can't get 93 up here in Canada. It is really hard to find.
Appreciate the info.

Not sure if the fuse pull works on the LSA motor but pulling fuses is a good idea regardless if you run low octane fuel or not. Once the ECM senses knock for any reason it may go the low octane table and remain there.

Only if there was excessive amount of knock. Won't happen because of the infrequent few degrees that might be pulled at WOT.

If you have HP Tuners you can also go into the VCM scanner and just click reset fuel trims.

That will reset fuel trims but not sure it will reset the "knock learn factor". Maybe. I might have to try it and see.

Thanks for all the input! Looks like I'll try pulling the fuses tonight. I know the dealer put cheap shit in it when purchased.
