24, Master of Occupational Therapy from KU. Just got a job as a traveling therapist with a great contract company. Since I've been living like the poor ass college student I was I figure I can live that way a little bit longer for a car that won't break down....one that I fell in love with at first sight.

It's truly a pleasure and as stated 'refreshing' to read all the posts and reponses to this thread and others on the site like this. I learned the same lessons at an early age from my father, but I'm not so sure I had as much 'temptation' as you guys have, as well as 'social pressures' to drive the cool car, wear the clothes, etc.

Based on the responses, I am truly convinced your gen is a bit more mature than mine at your age.

Best to you !

Snugglz128 - You'd do best to pass that ticket along, would'nt you ? You live in ATHENS !!!! All that orange and blue you wear can only cause trouble for you anyway, right ???
I'd be happy to help you out !!... No need to thank me.

BTW - did you go to UF to make somebody mad at home ???.. living in Athens ?
My wife is a Gator alum and our son a UGA fan.
SEC season stinks here !
... and to add vinegar - her mother an FSU grad, father UF, cousins - Auburn, Alabama and Clemson.
i'm from florida. been a Gator for as long as i've loved camaros (my whole life). went to UF after high school (and a brief stint at UCF). my sweet job which allows me to afford my camaro moved me from a property in Gainesville, FL to work in the corporate office in Athens. LOVE athens and it's the best city i've ever lived in. so much fun!! although i travel a lot and last fall lived in Columbia, SC for work and this fall i will be living in Tuscaloosa, AL for work. i love my SEC life. and best yet i love being an alum from the BEST college and rubbing it in everyone else's faces

I'm 23 and working full-time. Put down $19,000 toward my 2LT already, paid the title and plate fees, financed the rest through my credit union, and already have another $2000 saved up to put toward the camaro when I get it in the next couple weeks!

I just turned 25 on the Sunday, and bought my 1SS/RS at the end of June. I only put around 5k down due to having a now 18 month old son and being a single father. Long story short I was well on my way to buying my own house before I had my son and a divorce shortly afterwards(long story, but since I have full custody of my son w/no visitation...yeah not good). I figured keep a bit of money saved, move back in w/the parents since child care is crazy expensive and atleast enjoy the car I am driving while I save to buy another house once my son gets in school.

I was a slacker until recently with school, but I am lucky to work at a school where I get my entire tuition paid for to the MBA I am shooting for in a few years. Could I have continued to drive/pay off my 05 merc sable I traded in for the camaro? Sure, would that have been more responsible? Most likely, but the way I look at it I am stuck w/the parents for atleast another 2-3 years. I might as well enjoy myself a lil bit while I save for my house/finish my degree.

I'm 22, will be 23 in a month, but I ordered a 1LT/RS and will be putting $20,000 down on the down payment and plan on financing the rest. I am a senior at the US Coast Guard Academy and I'll graduate and become an Ensign in May so I wanted to purchase something that appealed to me, but not go overboard so I won't put myself in a situation where I'm trying to live above my means; thats why I chose not to order the 2SS.

On another note, most of the dealers I approached about purchasing this car assumed that I could not afford this car just because I am so young and some dealers even tried to force me to co-sign the vehicle under my father instead of him co-signing the vehicle under me even though I have an excellent credit score.

24 here and working on the camaro 2ss/rs. I just purchased a HHR SS in April and will have the 5 year loan paid off in less then 2 years from April. I graduated in Dec. w/ my finance degree, and am still looking for a job w/ the degree. Lucky enough to have a friend who owns a business to work at. I worked 25-50 hrs/wk during the last 2.5 yrs of school while taking 15-19 credits. My college loans is small comparitivly and will pay that off before purchasing my camaro. (already paying 1.5x on student loan and more then 2x on car loan.) I just celebrated my 1 yr ann. with my beautiflul wife, and we live off of my her income. Mine goes towards car and a lot to savings account. We have enough saved to live our current lifestyle for 1.5-2 years if we both lost our jobs, so as much as I want a camaro I will not give up that security in this economy.

Congrats to all of you that were able to purchase your car, and I hope to join you all in a couple of years

I'm 23, saved up all my income for the first 5 months of my new job to pay off my debts because I wanted a clean slate when the car came in. I can afford to have the car paid off in 2-3 years, though the term is 5. I didn't put anything down because I wasn't required to do so, and like I said, I wanted my debts gone.

I thought about buying something cheaper and getting a house and all that, but then I wouldn't be able to afford the car until much later. I figured what the hell, I only live once, and for the price they're going, and how good they are/look, it's one hell of an opportunity, and I'm glad I jumped all over it.

I'm 25, you only live once. Sure us younger folks could have gone with a honda fit and put the rest of these car payments towards something else... but where's the fun in that?

the fun in that would be the fact you will never be stuck at a situation where you are past your prime, have no significant savings/assets save the camaro, or worse be in debt, pressed for money, not ready for retirement, and having to worry about how you are going to afford anything for your kids and their education.

i'm not saying that buying a camaro at 25 is inherently a bad choice.

just pointing out that, depending on your situation, knowing what is important in life at a young age and having the ability to see it over your own impulses and immediate desires isn't necessarily a bad thing.

the whole point of life is to have fun, continually.

IMO if you have 25K for a down payment for a car, you would be better off investing it in a house .... At least you will get a return on your money, that's an adult suggestion ..
