If I stop having animals get sick or AC going out it will get down for another tune at syneregy in fremont and get its smaller pulley installed.

Yep have 2 cudas 70 and 71. The 70 I raced with SCCA back in mid 80's. 71 is original 340 3speed car.

in the late 60's the 426 ruled the drag strip. Dodge and ford seemed to dominate nascar and GM was putting their emphasis in SCCA

seems your also just jealous because my dodge caravan SS would waste your ZL1 and when I get the hellcat it will too.
I couldn't care less. There will always be someone faster. I've had it happen with every car that I've bought.

Do you have other shortcomings that you are trying to make up for?

My ZL1 is perfect for me at this point. I could have bought a GT500 last November, but I chose the ZL1. My next car will be a Corvette and there are plenty of cars faster than it right now.

I will say one thing about the hellcat and road courses are concerned. It will depend on the track which car will have a faster time. Long straights with fewer turns will most likely result in a win for the Challenger. If the GT500 had better brakes which the hellcat does, it would beat the ZL1 more often on a road course.
and if the Queen had balls then she'd be King.

My only question I have is this. How many heaven kittens are you going to come up against?

With that being said, I think it is pretty cool to see this back and forth that is going on by the big 3. Me personally will be trading in on a 17' 50th Anniversary ZL1. I just don't like the looks of the challengers.

Does anybody know if Dodge has promised to honor the warranty if you take the Hellcat on the track/drag strip? I know Chevy is pretty rare in that it still stands behind certain cars that were built to race.

I am not being a wise a$$, I'm just curious. This was one of the CONS in my decision between the Shelby and ZL1.

Any time you are out in Cali be glad to let your ZL1 see my taillights.

Sure seems like you do. Looking at your comments of " I drive a dodge caravan", "Skin in Game" or "can not afford one" would either equate to your being sarcastic and I did not recognize it or the idea of the ZL1 being slower to a dodge irritates you.

Under "old" Chrysler I'd say no problem. Years back, I saw a Viper pop a motor at a HPDE. Being MI and not far from the Tech. Center, a Chrysler Engineering boss was at the track.

He said he saw what happened and it should not have happened, fully covered.

The biggest issue is Chrysler proving "abuse." Or, you proving "not abuse." To me, running a car to red line 3 maybe 4 times in a pass at the strip is not abuse.

Two of the reasons GM covers the ZL1 is the rev limiter/fuel shut off is so low and it runs a bit rich from the factory. It'll spin faster, people raise the rev limiter all the time during a tune. GM just keeps it within the "safe" parameters. And, the fuel tables are set for variances in parts, piece to piece, so there's enough wiggle room in the parameters to accommodate 5-10% variance. That's why a CAI and 5% pulley don't need a tune, still within the stock parameters.

But, say you're in a manual, and you are red lined in second, go to third and miss going to first, it will be called abuse. I saw that on a Plymouth Laser way back it 1990 - would not cover it. Hard to deny a mechanical over rev when the valves are bent or fused into the pistons.

I wouldn't go to Commiefornia if someone paid me.

Dodge has a hard enough time keeping their cars from breaking down under normal use. I guess I cannot blame them for not allowing track use under their warranty.

In fact, this reminds me of all the Police Agencies across the country that ordered Dodge Chargers. Since Chevy and Ford didn't have V-8 powered sedans at the the time they ordered, many Police Departments were forced to get Dodges. I know many many departments have complained about the quality of the Dodge and the amount of repairs they have to make on the car. I forget all the police departments that this covered, but I know first hand from family that are cops in NYC and Montgomery Co, MD. Both said that the Charger has been a poor replacement for the Crown Vic. The only upside is the HP that is offered in the modern Dodge.
