Siting police usage of a vehicle in order to argue quality of a car is a poor argument. Due to the nature of our work, Police cars get beat to hell. Here is a small example, I work my shift, as soon as I park the car the next guy comes in for his shift and takes that same car I just finished using. The next day when income back to work I take that same car that he just finished useif during his shift....... Police cars are, literally, used non stop. Not to mention the stopping and going, the hard acceleration and breaking and all the other craziness we put these cars through while we are working. Due to this constant use and abuse ofcourse cars break down. But the chargers don't break down any more than the Crown Victorias, Impalas or Tahoes. |

I'm glad you guys are having no problems with your Chargers, well at least as long as you aren't pulling me over on the GSP. That said, and I cannot remember the particular articles, it has been reported that police forces all around the country were having quality issues with the Chargers. I think I even saw a lot of complaining about them on some police forums. I don't think it is a poor argument, as I have at least 4 family members on the job with NYPD and Nassau County. They all opined that the Crown Vics were better quality. I'd love to be able to get the data from some of the big police departments and compare the costs (adjusted for inflation) of running the Chargers and running the Crown Vics/Impalas.Thanks for your service.

![]() What happens when someone does "mods" their Hellcat then? ![]() Stock for stock,....the Hellcat is faster, no?? From what I am reading, it is. Unless those are all lies? So, are you saying what I am reading are lies? If they are, please send me links to what is factual before I possibly buy a slow Hellcat. I'm not being facetious, I would just like to see proof and be alright with it. Thanks. |

Muscle cars were 2 door coupe versions of mid/full size family cars stuffed with big engines. All they could do is go fast in a straight line. Sure, some of them were modified for road racing but as they came off the showroom floor they couldn't turn to save their lives. FWIW, I think the ZL1 and Hellcat are both awesome. But they are two different tools for two different purposes. Ideally a person could have both. |

They do longer burnouts?
At what point do you reach diminishing returns in terms of cost per HP and the ability to hook it up? I think it's fair to say a ZL1 is starting in a pretty low state of tune. I.e. 8 psi boost, no CAI, etc. Getting it to 700-750 HP isn't difficult. If you're going beyond that you are in an elite group. JMO

Or buy a ZL1, it already is lighter and has a world class suspension and for a lot less money you can be at 700hp, but you probably won't need that much.

Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers were (and are) not muscle cars.
Muscle cars were GTO's (Tempest), GTX's (Belvedere), Chevelles, Impalas, Road Runners (Satellite), Grand Nationals (Regal), and the like. Muscle cars were based on platforms that could be had with 4 doors. None of them could turn... or stop... or do much of anything besides go straight. Not to get too deep into semantics, but Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers, etc. were pony cars, not muscle cars. Although they were stuffed with big engines they were not based on mid/full size family sedans hence did not fit the classic definition of muscle car. But whatever. I love the Hellcat but would probably buy a ZL1 if I were going to drop that kind of coin. Figure that one out.

Total sematics, look up the ten best muscle cars of all time. People use the names interchangeably and it makes no difference to the point. Camaros, Mustangs and Challengers since their inception have been used on road courses and 1/4 mile. You knew what I was talking about, another troll.

If a pure drag car is the goal, perhaps a COPO would be a better starting point. I'd bet most HC owners will be pretty happy with it as delivered. I can only speak for myself, but 700 HP for screwing around on the street seem about right

The hellcat can definitely be modded, but that's not what I was refrencing. However they will have am issue with locked ECM unless Dodge unexpectedly unlocks them. Now save your translations for your hubby...I'm guessing your female as I've never met a man who put so many words into mouth that never actually came out.
