I have a 2011 camaro LS automatic. I think i have the 1LS package i do have the cloth seats and trunk lip. I put the gear to M and it displays M6 i held the right paddle shifter for more than 5 seconds nothing changed. I put the gear into D and held the right paddle shifter for more than 5 secs and still nothing. Anyway to put into S mode or do i have a glitch and have to take it in?

LS Automatics (2LS) does not have "Sport" mode, just a variation of "manual" mode that lets you pick your highest gear (you can down shift), but it doesn't let you upshift before the automatic transmission wants to.

So you can be at a stop light, set it to M1, and stay in first. You can set it to M4, and you will start in 1st and work your way up to 4th automatically. If you are in motion, and shift into M mode, you will automatically be in the gear you should be in (not including overdrive gears). You can then downshift, if you want, but you can't get it to go into a higher gear if it is not ready.

Also, if you do set your manual mode to, say, M6, it doesn't shift differently than you would if you had it in Drive.

talk to jason@jackfab

i think it was him but not 100% but its all in the tune. there have been a couple people i have scene on here that have found a way to activate the sport mode on the 2ls cars. personally its something i would look into, i hate driving our 2lt if its not in sport mode. has a totally different feel to it.

Here is all the information you need to know about the 2LS, and its "M" mode:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=307690

Specifically:

Instead of Sport Mode, when shifted to “M” the 2LS goes into Electronic Range Select (ERS) Mode. ERS mode basically only allows the driver to choose the highest gear that the transmission will shift to. In ERS mode, the paddle shifters allow the driver to choose a particular “maximum gear,” which according to the owner’s manual is useful when towing a trailer (avoiding overdrive gears, which when towing can result in lots of “gear hunting”/unnecessary shifting) or descending a steep grade (engine braking).

If you shift to “M” in a 2LS and don’t touch the paddles, the ERS sets a maximum gear, and the car drives within the range of 1st to whatever the max gear is, upshifting to the maximum gear and downshifting normally, unless the driver selects a different maximum gear via the paddles.

So basically, as NJScorpio said above, us 2LS owners have no "Sport" mode, just that ERS mode. Though I disagree about it not shifting any different if you put it to M6 versus having it just in Drive. From my experience, shifting to M and hitting the right tapshift paddle until the DIC says M6 results in a little bit more of a spirited drive. The computer seems to hold the gears a bit longer than when just in Drive. I have not done any actual testing of this though, so maybe I'm just imagining it, or something, lol.

But those who say they have a V6 and Sport mode either have a 1LT or 2LT, or have an 2010 or 2011 Camaro. Some time in the middle of the 2011 model year, Chevy changed the LS autos to not have Sport mode anymore, at least, that's what I've found out from some research. Honestly, I wish I would have researched the 2LS a bit more before I bought mine to know about these differences, as I probably would have waited and bought an LT model instead. Ah well...

Hope this helps!

I had rented a 2014 LT while on vacation, which had Sport mode. I almost didn't buy my 2LS because it wasn't manual, but saw the paddle shifters and thought, "Well, I'd still have control via those, so that's not a terrible compromise."
