Apex catch can install with stock 1LE Oil Separator

Hey all,

Ran into some issues installing my catch can today as the stock 1LE oil separator return line to the stock airbox gets in the way of the front of the catch can.

For those who've run into the problem, did you just run regular rubber hose in place of the stock rigid line from the clean side? If so, how would i go about doing that?

i just installed mine like the directions said.. i just fed the aftermarket hose into the factory clean side hose so i could keep the factory separator as well. works just fine.. still catching oil.. no leaks. good mod.

Thanks, do you have the stock intake as well? That's where I'm having real estate issues.. If it's not too much trouble, could you post a picture when you get a chance? (I don't want to mess up the routing)

Thanks again Sic, I saw some pictures floating around and it looks like folks just use regular rubber hosing and clamp it on both ends, simple enough!

I am having the same issues, wish I would have seen this thread before I posted my own: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=380929

I am trying to find a work around for this also. I would guess we can just use rubber hose to make the connection.

You nailed it. Just substitute rubber hose for the hard plastic lines.

Mike, the rubber hose method would work but I was hesitant to cut the existing plastic (paranoia, ocd, first mod, etc lol) but what I found was a good workaround, was to install the catch can first (disconnecting the stock separator lines completely), then reconnecting as there was less bend in the stock separator back to the intake

If you need pictures, let me know and I'll post em up.

Thanks APEX, but since I have the stock airbox there is a "snap in" type connector with an o-ring for the stock line. My guess is I should just cut the line and then attach the rubber line to that?

extraurban if you have a pic that would be very helpful. I am not sure I understand what you did. Did you use the stock line, I really don't want to cut mine either in case I ever get rid of the car and want to put it back to stock.

Thanks guys!!!

Mike
