True cost of going Supercharged?
So after debating in this tread today:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=1#post8021804 I got to thinking....what is the TRUE cost of going with let's say a IPF supercharger on a V6 car? My guess is around $10,000 to do this right. I'm not trying to scare anyone away from doing this. Just want to know the real cost verses the "kit only" cost. We all know the IPF kit cost around $6,000 for the kit. You can self install for free or have it done professionally around $1000 I'm guessing. So what other parts need to be purchased or upgraded to make this a long term install? Catch can system? Upgraded driveshaft? Meth cooler? Transmission cooler? Oil Cooler? Brake system upgrade? So for anyone who has gone S/C...if you had to do it over again what parts would you pre-purchase ahead of install the S/C kit?

Absolutely nothing is needed to upgrade and I've been down the track almost 100 times with my SC. The only thing that needs to be looked at is the catch can and that can be fixed just by rerouting some lines.
Don't use my system as a measuring point, I'm pushing my system to try to get into the 11's eventually, not everybody has to do this. |

Well as you can see from my build I'm after the 1LE V6 version of a track car.
Headed out to Fontana Speedway again on November 9th. From what I see these LFX engines are good up to 500 RWHP. After that things start to break from what I've seen since I joined C5. I'm just looking at making sure I have everything. I'm not trying to go cheap so if I need to buy upgraded hoses or some other parts I will.

The IPF system does not require any additional cost or components after install. I have updated my catch can and routing but this is not needed.

What about the IPF S/C PCV Fix problem noted here? Any additional cost to solve this?

as you know I just went through the process and you don't need anything else but the kit to be happy. if you want to go farther you can but don't need too.

no need to, but addictive yes, I went the 1LE route with upgrades from there, but I am a little extreme. SC kit and less than 200 bucks for a proper evac system and you are good. Save for tires as they will be gone before you know it. If you want to squeak out the tune a little better, you can go HPtuners for about 500 for a custom tune.

So adding the MM items adds only $200. HP tune can be done after you get used the the IPF tune and you want to tweak some more rwhp = $500
Tires = $500-$1000 http://www.mightymousesolutions.com/...231825/pcv-can http://www.mightymousesolutions.com/...-cover-adapter So all total you'd be in somewhere between $6000-$7500 depending on what you added. Still not bad IMHO. Thx guys

All of that is not necessary. Adding tires to a suprrcharger price does not make sense. Do you add tire price when you get headers installed? The hptuners tune is not necessary either. They are options. The 6k from ipf is everything from start to finish. No hidden costs, unless you want to go above and beyond
Good luck!

Shortly after the install, I had to upgrade to a Stronger Clutch.

I am back to stock clutch, but once that goes I think my only other option is RAM.

love my Ram, and the comment about the tires and tune may not be needed, but more of a suggestion since you will be having some fun, especially initially..... truely only the kit is needed. but with the kit the addiction begins.

Not trying to start a fight. Just trying to get a total picture of what is needed. I'd say the MM items could be added to the 6K IPF kit and call it a day.
