From a review of the Cadillac CTS with a 3.6DI Engine.

EPA fuel-economy estimates: 17 mpg city, 26 highway; 87 octane recommended

I'm thinking that the lineup will be as follows
$22 000
280 hp DI V6
$28 500
380 hp 6.0L (L76 variant) Z28
$42 000
525 hp 6.2L (LSA variant) SS

RS would be an optional appearance package for all. In my dreams I wish for a special lightweight ZL1 with an LS7, but that will not happen since the LS7 is on its way out.
Honestly I can't see the base V8 having less than 400 hp. The '05 and '06 Goats had that much power and I can't see GM making a newer Camaro with less power. And yes, they were more expensive at the time but that was b/c of dealers' greed.

I was thinking along the lines that there would be the LS/LT ..who knows if it is 2 V6s, or one V6 and a 4 banger...

MY personal thought (after seeing the accessories photos) was that the RS would be the bare base V8, the SS being a step up as far as trim, performance and "toys" (much like having a stang GT and premium GT) and the Z/28 being the GT500killer....essentially that would make 3 trims for V8, but is that really to crazy?

Where we are, regular unleaded = 87 octane.

SS: topdog v8

Now, for the Z it should have the handling department, so running around a track it could keep up to the SS and/or surpas it, and have the SS as a straightline terror but with handling in mind.

If GM is going to have a 4cyl. engine i think the LT stuff should be put on that.

Again, JMO.

At one time SS cars had the hardware to back up the designation (engineered controlled), then turned into appearance packages (bean-counter controlled), and now is suppose to again have the hardware to back up the designation (engineered controlled?).

The Ford Mustang is offered to the masses with 2 V6s & 2 V8s. Then the collectors/well heeled get the Shelby GT500 & Bullet models. Then Saleen, Gurney, and quite a few others offer their Mustang versions.

Dodge offers the Challenger with 1 V6, and 2 V8s, and already there is a blown SRT being offered by some aftermarket company.

So couldn’t Chevy conceivable offer the SS designation in 6, 8, or even a turbo/blown 4 cylinder? Unfortunately enthusiasts don’t get to control the models, but we do get to go along for the ride . Me, I want a convertible RS/SS (with hidden headlights), but if it pushes 35K, it’s probably not happening . I wouldn’t doubt the Z28 moniker goes upscale. Want a Trans-Am clone, hey Burt Reynolds get on it!

I thought there was 1 V6 in 2-3 trim levels.

I would argue that Scott (Fbodfather) is an enthusiast and I think he is going to make the final call on the badges. I am quite certain that the SS & Z-28 will be V8s (or better yet one could be a tt V6 with around 400hp).

Sorry folks, I rechecked the Ford site, looks like one 4.0L V6, and three V8s. Breakdown as follows:
4.0 L V6
SOHC 4.6L, V8
SOHC 4.6L , V8 with Ford Racing Power Upgrade Package
5.4L 32V, V8.

The Ford Racing Power Upgrade is available through the factory, or is it a dealer add-on? It's just me, but I don't really feel that a dealer add-on is factory, perse.

Z/28 Originally was only a code which identified a performance handling package, which consisted of a 302 -5.0 liter engine AND suspension upgrades....basic answer, for more details ...... ask
