Using the same formula, you need about 35-36 PSI cold for Viper. Have fun!

TireRack has finally added these new sizes to its list. This is great since initial heat cycle is incredibly important for Hoosiers, and considering best cure time is a week, it is next to impossible to do it properly at the track if you don't have a second set of wheels. TireRack seems to have one of the best heat cycling services available.

From TireRack:
Quote:
By Tire RackClose up of heat cycle stamp
Our heat cycling service begins by mounting the tire on an appropriate-width wheel and inflating it to the desired pressure. It is then placed in our heat cycling machine which has three rollers positioned at the corners of a triangle. The tread flexes where it comes into contact with each of the rollers, stretching the rubber compound enough to progressively bring it up to temperature all the way around the tire and across the tread. There is no artificial heat added by an oven, forced air or heat lamp.

The tread temperature is monitored with a pyrometer to confirm when the tire has reached the desired 170-180° F temperature. The tire is then dismounted and stamped as Tire Rack heat cycled. Since the minimum 24-hour waiting period typically occurs while the tires are in transit, the tires are ready to use when they arrive!

The only thing our heat cycling service doesn’t do is scuff in the tires.

Great; let us know how it fits! My Forgestar wheels will be delivered early November. My front offset is +17, so my wheels will be 6mm closer than yours up front. If the Hoosier R7s, which are substantially wider than Trofeo Rs, are a very snug fit, it might not work for me : ( I am almost sure they would fit with Z/28 wheels, though.

Did you get it from TireRack? If so, did you ask for heat cycling? I checked the shipping quote from TireRack, and it was a whopping $160. Hoosier Direct store ships it for free for the same tire price ($458), but they do not have a heat cycling service, which might double the life of the tire.

Will do. Now you've got me worried If they don't fit I have spare set of OEM wheels and tires so will make sure the R7's have sufficient clearance before running them.

Regarding heat cycling...a few of the regular Vette/R6 guys here don't bother with TR HC claiming that if doesn't work as well as doing it at the track. I typically run a half-full 20 min session on stickers & then put them away for at 24-48 hrs. Ordered HC it on this set but am frankly not sure why as I have no baseline on the new compound to test against. Should perhaps have NOT done it with the first set...

Looking forward to your feedback. I want the heat cycle for longer life of the thread since Hoosiers are famous for quickly heat cycling out long before the thread is done. Hopefully longer life of R7s and HC will remedy this issue.

Save your money, I have 2 sets of track wheels and trailer my car to the track so I've actually tested this. I've tried comparing life on several sets of Hoosiers and slicks with heat cycling and without and did not notice any appreciable increase in tire life.

Has anyone tried the fitment yet? What about track duty? If I can f find a track day, I'm very tempted to get a set.

Just had a set fitted and the shop says they work. Pick up car this evening and (weather permitting) will run the car on track Sat/Sun. Feedback thereafter.

Great, looking forward to your feedback! My front wheels are 6mm closer to suspension than yours; I hope you have more than 6mm left in there : )

NJMP. Was hoping to do do both tracks but Sat forecast is cold and rain so might just run Sun on Thunderbolt.

Looking forward to your feedback. I've been researching tires, and there's just not one good tire with a good set of compromises like the Nitto NT01 in Z/28 size.

Hoosier recommends 38-40 PSI cold, and estimates 50-52 PSI hot. Let's see if your experience will match these estimates. Since we have the TPMS display, at least it's easy to get reading without having to leave the track and risk cooling the tires before checking temps.

Longevity will be the next question. I have not been able to get reliable data on how much better R7s are compared to R6s in terms of longevity, consistency, and number of heat cycles. R6s are pretty bad.
