My my my, lookit that. Key recall, what have we here?

The key will start the car but if you don't have the remote with you it will alarm. I left my remote in the house and tried the key all by itself and the car alarmed. Try it and see what happens.

I wouldn't be adverse to that. I don't feel push start is some orgasmic experience but now it at least makes logical sense- key blade is gone from the fob, but the key and fob is too clunky for my taste.

The non-modified switchblade would work, I've just never used it.

The key alone should work, but I think that after I unlock the door with it the alarm will beep until I insert the key into the ignition. I haven't tried it.

Can you check if the original switchblade still works? It's possible the dealer reset the key count back to zero so only the two new keys ( fob and fob-less) work.

No idea. The dealership is waiting for me to find my missing key. The trouble is, I lose things so damn easily.

This key thing really makes me laugh. I was told by someone at GM that taller drivers could bump the key and shut the vehicle off while driving. Well I'm 6'2", wear 36 length pants.
With the seat all the way back and all the way down I have 6" clearance from my knee to the key.
I think the paint chipping off the vehicle and covering another one's windshield behind me would be more of a safety issue.

They should issue 2 working keys, without destroying the original fob/key combo to use at your own discretion. Is the disassembly an effort to discourage ppl from coming in for the service? I won't let my fobs be seperated (destroyed).
