Cool car but not a stupid name if you know the history behinde it.
The cars name pays homage to one of the U.S. Navy's most fearsome World War Two fighter aircraft, the Grumman F6F Hellcat. The Hellcat was designed to counter the Mitsubshi A6M Zero wich at the time was kicking the shit out of our older outdated Naval aircraft. The Hellcat proved vastly superior to the Zero and secured air superiority for the allies in the pacific helping turn the tide of the war. The Hellcat had the highest kill ration of any allied naval aircraft in the entire war. The F6F Hellcat was a feared and leathal machine, a total game changer at the time that brought a lot of pain to its adversary's. Guess that's why Dodge gave a nod to it in naming these cars. No way in hell I'll ever pay markup on a car that is a "sell all we can make" vehicle. I might have paid MSRP once in my life for a new vehicle. Markups are for those with deep pockets and big egos.

The Hellcats are awesome but not awesome enough to pay $90,000 for. If I had that kind of money to spend, I'd add $15,000 and buy the 2015 Corvette.

People with more money than brains. Keep searching, find a good dealer that doesn't gouge and buy it from them. If people would wake up, these marked-up cars would be sitting on lots until the tires were dry-rotted. Stick it in your rear!

You would be correct IF those people had to stretch their finances to the limit and take out a huge loan to get the car. Those people have no brains, but they really have no money either. ![]() The people paying huge markups in order to be the first one to get their hands on one, have the money. To these people, paying $50k - $100K on a new car is nothing. This debate always brings out the "scum bag dealer" remarks. But look at it like this: If you had a product that was in very high demand, and you could charge extra for it (because people would pay it), you would be taking advantage of that. You are also correct that if people would stop paying it, the dealers would lower the price very quickly. But that won't happen, so most of just have to wait it out. Once the initial "rush" to have one of these cars is over, the price will come down. Keep in mind, that there are a lot of people out there with lots of money. It is just as easy for them to buy a $90k car as it is for you to buy a $20k car.

Hopefully someone will end up getting a deal on a hellcat
like I did on my SS. My SS is an early production car. A local new import lot bought my car new, paid a small markup at the Chevy dealer and then they tacked on another mark up trying to make a quick flip. A YEAR later I bought the car with 43 miles on it for $31k. The dealer lost their ass!

I just wanted several years, because I was Angry and the dealerships. Yes.. you are sooooo right. The wow factor has been gone for awhile. I meant AT THE TIME. So thanks for taking what I said out of context and trying to correct me. |

All the Dodge sales managers I've talked to in the last 6 months told me, if you want a Hellcat wait till next model year. The first year of the Hellcats are going to be a limited run with the following year offering regular production numbers. (Many more available)
Typical Chrysler sales crap. |

I'd consider getting one if I could drive it more than 6 months a year..
That said, 25k is a huge markup and I would never pay it. But the "more money than brains" club has lots of members who have to be the first at having something. I hate mark ups, and despise dealers for doing it. I can't blame them though, if someone wants to give that for a new one....take it. |
