Of course the other possibility is still get a stick and know that if I am gonna drink, we will just take her car.
Get the damn stick and show her how to drive it!!

So I ended up w/ the Auto. I'm a manual kind of guy by far (Vipers, Lotus, etc) -- but sitting in city traffic is brutal w/ a manual (even w a very light clutch). If anyone has ever been on I-77 at 5pm, you know what I mean. This is my daily driver, so I need to have it as stress free as possible. In addition, while my wife *can* drive a stick, but dealing with it and the little one in the back seat is much harder than it looks. I tend to want to keep her happy, so I may increase my toy collection over the long haul

Overall, I'm pretty happy with what I went with. I'm still hunting for a weekend toy - which will be a stick - for when I just need to get out of the city area and blast around.

A DSG box would have been pretty slick, but the response of the factory slushbox is actually quite nice. As soon as someone unlocks the ECU's torque cut feature, we'll be in business

i was getting the automatic from the beginning. and it is really good that i did, cause i fractured my ankle and it is still in a cast and won't be fully healed by the time my car gets here, so because i have the auto i will still be able to drive it!!! if the car got here and was a stick and it just had to sit there, i would probably die so thank goodness for the automatic transmission order

I would get an auto, I am one of the few who prefer an automatic over driving a manual. Yes I know I am weird like that.

quick question- does the automatic transmission in the manual mode have a neutral gear before you put it in first? or does it start right in first when you put it in M?

It starts in first. "manual mode" is a joke, it's still an automatic transmission.

manual mode is not a "joke" It gives you control over the rpm, which is what is important.

I bought a 2LT with the auto tapshift.

But in france, we don't have lot of automatic cars, so the camaro will be my first auto gearbox

Second, most people (younger, not my elders) can't drive a stick...I figure that alone is worth it to me because my Camaro is less likely to be stolen than someone's with an automatic.

great reasoning there. And also Sad, but true.

Oh. And I am getting a automatic. Even though it's killing me. But I have bone chips and arthritis in right ankle. Looking at surgery next year. And I am NOT giving up driving my car during that "down time"

This really is a personal choice. For me driving a car like this there is no question manual all the way adds so much more fun driving it this way. I can see only 2 other types of people not choosing the manual those who daily drive this car in heavy stop and go traffic and people with bad knees.
