Anyone using the O2 extenders with the mini cat converters in them?

Just wondering if they actually work. They are the extenders for the rear O2 sensors but they have the same material in them that our converters have. There like $50 each. My goal was to add headers and good high flow cats but not tune due to warranty issues. Car is brand new with 144 miles on it so I wanted to keep the warranty for a couple of years.

Who makes them? I've never heard of them. I'm interested in the input from people too. Great idea if they work!

People have been doing that for years, they are not cats, just little defowlers that sometimes work to trick a car without cats.

Here is an image of the internals. Constructed from the same material as a Cat. Have not tested yet. Will update when I install the headers.

They are mini cats if you were to look at the link you would see them. There not the $5 de fowler you buy at autozone.

Won't work. You will still get the P015B and P015D codes that relate to the front O2s. So changing the rear O2s for these won't help.

ok, I see. My misunderstanding. I thought it was ONLY the rear sensors that reported the cat event to the computer. I thought the front was for the actual air/fuel readings and had nothing to do with cat efficiancy

if you are just worried about the CEL light going off, I'd go with a set of spark plug extenders from the parts store for $5.00.

try them first and see if it works. if not, then pony up for the $100.00 "cat extenders"

decent how-to thread

You are right. The front O2s give the PCM the info it needs to adjust AFR. But there will still be a code related to response time of the front O2s with headers. Car will still run fine but codes will set unless adjusted in the tune.

Won't work.
Once again. This won't address the codes with the front O2s.

I've done this on a number of cars on front sensors (some that only had 1 sensor period) and rear sensors and haven't had a problem.

I'm just saying that for the $5-10.00 investment, its worth trying before throwing down $100 JMO
