Went the cheapo route with this (gets good reviews):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For $230 I got everything I needed from Amazon. Instead of $1200. I just have to sweat a little installing it.

For that price you should have just went with twin MTX's. Same price and has an amp

I was trying to conserve space.

The dual JL Audio 8"s would tuck immediately behind the rear seat in the trunk and take up nominal space which is the only dual sub package/enclosure I could find online that small, but it was well out of what I was thinking of spending for the entire setup. The 10" should be fine based on the reviews, and I'll have it delivered to be installed after work Friday!

If space wasn't an issue I'd get a nice 12" and call it a day. None of the prefab 12" units would fit, and the cost/complexity of installing a 12" on the sides just didn't add up for my needs. I was looking at amps today that cost almost twice what I paid for this entire setup. Everything's relative, I'm pretty sure I'll be happy to not spend much and get some extra bass. Mission accomplished.

This Rockford Fosgate 10" rocks. Can't believe the output for such a small sub combo. Even if it only lasts a couple years, I'll just buy another. It was only $200!!

This was the perfect upgrade. The sound quality has improved overall, tinkering with the EQ I really only needed to lower the bass. The treble is harsh at very limited moments, so I think it's entirely production issues with the music and not the system. I'll know more after a few hours of listening then can decide if I want new components as well.

Just to be a completest, here's a cross reference link to the tweeters I ended up getting (require a hot glue gun, otherwise easy install):

Tweeters:

Been using this system since late August 2014 and I'm blown away by how god it sounds, considering the door and rear speakers are still factory, as well as the head unit/radio.
