I think equipment so fresh in it's life should be warranted unless he was doing burn outs for hours or bouncing off the limiter like an amateur.

I'm sure GM will honor the warranty, especially if everything is stock in powertrain. They always did as far as I can remember in Corvette Forum.

The Z28 has only been out for 1 year now, there was not one for sale on a lot 13 months ago.

Please read page 10. This is all that matters as this is the warranty manual itself. Not the owners manual, not a salesman, not an engineer. There are no specific clauses or addendums for the Z/28 or ZL1 either.

The warranty does not cover damage due to "misuse of the vehicle due to driving over curbs, overloading, racing, or other competition use." In plain English.

However, I'm certain the dealers have the latitude to be generous on certain models if they choose. Which I hope is the case for OP.

I can't help but wonder why if there is no warranty coverage for track use, does the owner's manual include instructions how to prep for the track with engine oil, brake fluid, etc....Does it say somewhere in there if you follow the track prep recommendations you also void your warranty?

They also both said they will look at the damage and seek it's cause, if possible. If there's evidence you missed a couple of downshifts and over revved the motor, you've given them an opening to reject any warranty claim.

My discussions with each dealer were in the context of "I am definitely going to take this car to the track. I won't race it or enter any competitive events. Will that void warranty work on the engine?" Both answered "No, but......." The reason I wanted to know is, if the warranty was getting voided anyway, I was going head first into modding the car with either heads, headers and a tune or pull the original motor intact and install a built motor.
Explained very well right here.^^^ Hope the OP gets fixed up

Bottom line is that there is enough verbiage in GM's documentation that says they really -can do what they want. Ferrari's F-40 and Porsche's Carrera gt dont get a track warranty. I mean lets hontstly look at how much purpose built racing parts fail, that were built and designed strictly for racing. How many cars drop out of a track event or race with mechanical failures. If you honestly think that GM has taken the stance and said "we got you its covered", don't worry well warranty it for you. your in full flight from reality.

Agreed, a design flaw does not mean anything is cheap. Actually, not at all.

Hopefully OP's warranty will stand. From an engineering and life cycle management perspective, warranty work allows R&D and Operations to determine the cause of the issue above and beyond the physical manifestation of the failure.

The individuals who flat-out refuse to bring their vehicles in for warranty work do a greater disservice because, to the knowledge of the manufacturer, nothing ever went wrong with their design.

You're playing it smart..... I don't post anything warranty or insurance related until after it is resolved if at all...
