My 2010's dash is still intact. The car has only sat in the direct sun and heat for a limited number of days in five years of ownership. Those days, I did use a sunshade in addition to using the sunroof's vent feature to minimize heat buildup inside the car. Maybe these two things have helped.

This is common on tahoe's and silverado type vehicles also. I'm really surprised this isn't a recall.

Not sure how much the sunshades will help because basically the plastic is fairly thin in that spot and it supports the passenger airbag...

He said they didn't improve the parts? So you could possibly be replacing your dash with one that will crack again? Seems like a lot of hassle, time and money for no guarantee that it will not happen again.

If mine cracks I'll just search around for a HUD dash

But I'd rather it not crack at all lol

Sunshades help. Anytime you can prevent contact with sunlight, you're helping. From Texas, to Hawaii, to Tucson, it makes a difference. You can touch it and feel the difference.

Excellent point. Oldblue, talk to them about that. Warranty maybe?

I really want to get the HUD install in my car. I have a 1LS
so my question is what was the $$ for that install ??
Did you need to change the windshield ?
And is it worth it in your opinion ??

Well the part will have a warranty for a year or 2 an I can hope it cracks in that time period. An the wife has a 2015 Acadia with HUD and I'm not a big fan so not worth it in my opinion.....

Well, just keep it treated and cool as possible.

Yea, I don't know how I feel about HUD. It's nice, but I can go without it.

Got new HUD from forum member for $250, harness for $166 from forum vendor, Lupe did the install for $400 and based on my picture posted worth the price. I have no rattles and everything looks factory installed. No need to replace windshield but if you get crack or chip, replace it with OEM hud windshield. Was it worth it, God yes. Having music, phone data on screen without looking down makes driving safer along with having speed right in your line of vision.
