You're right. Maybe the aggressiveness of the 1LE would just make me drive faster.

5 is a good number. I did mine with 4 and had good results. The last coat was laid on pretty close and heavy to make it smooth.

Ytown, what would you say is a fair price for 4 wheels, badges, chrome trim, and rear spoiler?

Start with 1-2 light coats and slowly get heavier, and make sure you spray all sides of the emblem

Down here in FL your avg for rims is 75-100
Badges run about 25-30
Trim and spoiler together about another 30-40

I'd imagine someone probably doing it all for 150-200.

Now take this part as if I dont do this more than your regular person.....it really isnt that hard at all to do it all yourself for the money. If you are talking doing black only, just buy 6 cans from Home Depot and some painters tape. You'll spend maybe 50 bucks. Spray the rims in light coats and make sure you get a good amount on the tire too. Peel from the tire when done and presto! dipped rims!

Tape off a section around the badges but not exactly against them. Spray your coats within that tape area and peel off the tape and excess dip on the body. dipped badges! (same with trim)

spoiler - tape a section an inch or so up on the trunk lid and lay down some news paper from there back. do the same on surrounding areas. spray your spoiler in light coats (5-7 should do). peel the tape and excess dip off the body. dipped spoiler!

with a light dusting from 4-6 inches away from the surface being sprayed you should have a nice even smooth looking dipped piece. even for your first time I would estimate maybe an hour..hour and a half max for everything. Just dont get over eager to see the dip cover everything on the first pass or two and you will be fine.

Very easy to do it yourself and use the extra money for more mods. I did 4 wheels in about five hours with Glossifier. Did both my outside mirrors all bowties and camaro lettering plus diffuser and side rockers. U can get dip and glossifier at walmart

Use simple green to clean wheels after dip works great spray it on then wash off that easy

I did the wheels on my wife's BMW last winter and they look as good today as they did then. I masked the tires by sliding 3x5 index cards behind the bead. Lots of light coats from multiple angles to get around all the spokes.

Just wanted to let you all know I did my calipers in Red and they look great after almost a year. No problems with heat or anything. If anyone wants pics I'd be glad to post!

Does the glossifier and shine? On wheels how many coats do you use?

I drive my SS slower than any other car I've ever owned, so there was really no sense in buying something with even MORE horsepower than the SS. But I think the 1LE look as absolutely PERFECT for the Camaro.
Nothing to do with "manliness" but the ability to drive a manual shift is just a utility life skill. It is like learning to ride a bike. Not many adults ride bikes ... but almost all learned as a child.

That way IF the need arises (emergency or just simple move a car for a friend etc.) you have the ability.

All the rest about traffic, commuting, etc. I get. My toys are manual, my daily driver (96 Ford Explorer) and my two vehicle (Excursion) are automatics.

I put 5 coats on these bezel's and then turtle ice wax, like Ytown suggested. I waited about 30 seconds between coats and they turned out great!
