Yes Palmer pretty much except if the car will sit for more than 3 days then I remove it as I know it can cause the battery to drain down some. Overall its been fine just 2 instances of codes this week for some reason.
More annoying than anything.... |

I've had the same issues. They swapped the first Range unit I bought due to thes issues. The new one wthey sent was ok for a few months but then several times in a week the car wouldn't start and had the Service power steering on dic, pulled the Range and car started, plugged it back in hot and it was ok. Then a few days later it did it again pulled the Range, car started but still had the power steering on dic, had to drive that way but the next startup it was gone. I agree love the Range but these issues a pissing me off!!! Tempted to get a tune and be done with this crap.

Yes, I too have a 2013 - 2SS, had my range plugged in for several months. Suddenly I started to get all the CEL's and the car wouldn't start....I had it towed to the dealer once, it was late at night, quickly stopped by in the morning and pulled my range. They came back saying they could not find the problem but there were 12 communication code failures.
After getting back, that weekend I was on the Range site as I started to get suspicious, read the warning for 14-15 models and realized it was exactly the same errors that I was receiving on my 13. Now, I live in Canada, Ontario, so not so easy for me to pay for shipping back and forth to have it reprogrammed... I think that's total BS! I might just sell the damn thing and take my loss. |

Oh and from what I read, after the updated firmware some people still have this happen??? I would really be upset then, don't think I'll bother

Same here I'm in Ottawa so shipping is not convenient either. Seeing as the update can still cause an issue I'm going to stick with what I have for now... Mine has always started after any glitch thankfully though. And it has always cleared the codes pretty much right away too. |

This is all very odd. I was the first one on this site to get one and (other than the battery drain if left plugged in and not started over four days or so) I have had zero issues.

Sorry for reviving a months old thread but I'm having issues and guessing reading this it is related the range. Has anyone had issues of the car not starting at all? Sounds like one person did. I had this happen the other day and just out of the blue decided to wiggle the range and it let the car start but had all kinds of error lights on. I've removed the device altogether but hate driving it now hahah.

Usually though if you remove and shut the car off for 2-3 minutes it will fire right up and be fine. It can be embarrassing though. I went to start the car recently in front of my ex-wife who called it my penis car lol and it wouldn't turn over... Had to unplug and wait...Pissed me off haha

___________________________________ I've read some reviews that said your device will kill the battery if the car sits for more than a few days. It also can throw various codes. 1) Would you say those complaints are still coming up or have you solved those problems? 2) Is there a money back warranty? 3) I saw only one individual say the dealer detected something weird on the ECM's memory. Is there a possibility of voiding the warranty? Thanks, Thank you for contacting us! In regards to your questions; 1) Battery: Range recommends removing the Disabler module if the vehicle is not a daily driver and will sit for more than 3 to 4 days in a row. This is because that in conjunction WITH other vehicle option’s modules (there are several options that continually draw power from the battery even if the vehicle is completely shut off) there may by weak or no charge. The module alone does not use enough power to cause a battery issue but we have received reports from the field of this occurring, typically with 2013-2015 Camaro’s and Corvette’s although Range applies the battery draw warning to all vehicles. Any reports of a battery issue occurring nowadays can simply be attributed to missed instruction. It is not an issue Range can prevent since it occurs in partner with the vehicle’s other options. CEL’s/codes: With SOME 2014/2015 GMs, depending on options, may experience a CEL while using a Range module. The good news is that none of the lights/codes are permanent and can be taken care of with a scan reader or with what we call the Range "hot plug" method. The steps for the latter are here: https://rangetechnology.zendesk.com/...-Engine-Lights When the module is plugged in "hot" like this, it will send a DTC-ALL CLEAR to all modules on the vehicle's BUS. They will go away and will not cause any harm to the vehicle or its warranty. The reason a CEL/code may be seen is typically when the unit and vehicle both issue commands at the same time. Since this does not allow either command to be completed, it can/may result in a generic “loss of communication” code (usually an engine or transmission code). This occurrence is very rare with the most current firmware. 2) Our products come with a 1 year warranty as well as a “no questions asked” 30-day return policy. Simply return the module with its original packaging in like—new condition and upon receipt and inspection of the condition of the module, Range will issue the refund. If you need any assistance with anything, please contact us via phone, email or chat and we are happy to help! 3) Range stands behind our statements and our product and we guarantee the Disabler is NOT detectable to any shop mechanics or technicians etc. It is not possible. Any reports to the contrary can be attributed to a technician having a deeper understanding of AFM/OBD-II technology. ANYTHING in the OBD-II port (Progressive SnapShot, esurance DriveSense and so on) can issue a command at the same time as the vehicle which could result in a CEL. The difference between Range’s modules and others is that the Disabler does NOT leave an ECU footprint unlike the others. Thanks again! Last edited by yescats; 10-09-2015 at 07:23 PM. |
