Too many problems with my Z28.
Whooooooooaa. Mark can we be friends. How do you like it? A tech guy from GM told me that honestly the LS7 is just a larger displacement street production motor even their LSX motors have better parts. LS7s are over rated. Also just to add there is a dealer in Ohio I talked with that would've given you no issue with warranty. Location is also and issue. I could've had them solve my issue but it would've required a 1000 mile shipping to their location with me paying that bill for warranty repairs which would've seem like a good Idea still.

I'm glad you left the issues behind you. It gets very frustrating when a brand new car causes issues like this. Speaking of which, I bet you could demand a brand new car using the lemon law but I understand that you did not want to lose any more time.

Enjoy your Viper!

A guy at COTA today has a brand new Viper T/A in blue; got it for $105K out the door. Gorgeous car, but I still love my Z/28. So far so good for me, and it's killing some far more expensive hardware out there...

EDIT: Oh yeah, enjoy your Viper -- they are really beautiful cars and you deserve to have a great experience after your disappointment with the Z/28...

In Michigan the lemon law does not provide you with a new car, they take back the car if certain criteria are met.

I lemon lawed and SRT for a clutch issue. They paid the loan, gave me back my deposit, the payments I made and even have me money for the window tint and Mopar exhaust I had Installed. Only thing I paid for 8 months was the insurance. Chrysler took care of me and we currently have a Chrysler, Jeep and the Camaro in garage.

One important benefit of using the lemon law (as far as I heard) is that it gets added to the title of the car, so no one can sell it as if nothing is wrong with it. I'd hate to see the dealer making even more money out of OP's troubles (if it was dumped to the GM dealer that is).

I want to thank Mark for taking the time to update us. We needed to add his experience to the database on the LS7. I do wish we had detailed specific info on what is hurt in that particular car.

I've been following the LS7 since 2006. An incredible motor with at least one major issue that GM needs to get serious about finding and fixing.

Do you have a thread to your finding/stats? What is the 1 major issue you are referring to?

Nothing is going to happen with a deep dive in problem solving the LS7. The EPA certs run out on the LS7 and the Z/28 will be the last model you see that motor in.

I'm pretty sure the C6 community identified the problem. Bad head machining which puts the valves at an ever so off angle. Adding a cam exerbates the issue at max RPM. Having the valves fixed or running aftermarket heads fixes the issue. I believe it's even been said here, if keeping the car stock, likely won't have any issues.

Jeff, what is it you expect GM to do about this exactly?
