We bought one of our daughters a 2013 Malibu LT. Same thing happened with her with about 6000 miles in. The dealership stated that wasn't covered under warranty and we should go through our insurance. Well after me raising hell because at the time we had bought 4 cars from that dealer - they fixed it. I mean I had to call GM and everything!!!

Why should GM pay to replace your windshield? Warranties fix defects in materials and workmanship, not road hazards....

Most insurance companies will complimentarily replace a windshield once.

Well guess what?? They fixed it and I purchased a 5th car from them. Not to mention in 3 years I have referred over 10-12 people that bought cars from them as well. It's called taking care of your customer. And they will continue to get my business. A windshield is a small price to pay to keep a customer(s). You can learn a thing or two about relationships...

iv never had full coverage insurance that didnt cover glass. Its cheap to get $0 deductible on glass. You do have full coverage right?

If its more expensive, its only because the glass is a little different, as it needs a special coating to reflect, and angle the HUD to the driver. That said, all windshields are coated, so the cost difference might not be that much. The installation methods for both types should be the same.

My insurance fixes rock chips for free and the deductible for glass replacement is less than collision. Call Safelite, they'll take care of everything, including processing the insurance claim.

I just got a rock chip in my pickup windshield. I went on-line to safelite.com and scheduled an appointment (at my place of work) for them to fix the chip. Within 5 minutes I got a call from my insurance company to verify I asked for the repair.

OP - If you crash your car is it covered under warranty becasue it's under a year old??

It's this simple:

Warranty = NO
Insurance = YES, in fact in some states like here in FL it's free

Consumers who think simply because the purchased a product that any dealership retailer etc is some how bound to give them items for free are the one of the main reasons everyone pays more. Frankly it's absurd. The I spent 10s of thousands of dollars and sent other people to your place I am entitled to things out of the scope of contract is American everyone wins a trophy throw a fit like a child mentality. Man the **** up take some responsibility. OP you have insurance deductible or not that's what the insurance is for had you ran over debris in the road and blew a tire would you be crying to dealership about it? Mr. Sonny Ya I'm talking about you. Had to cry all the way to gm Corp. Indeed because people like you don't take responsibility, corporations cow down in fear of losing market share to oh no he's gonna tell his friends and they won't buy our products word of mouth give him what he wants. Guess what those days are coming to a stop, bleeding pockets dry on both sides.

Thats great you give them a huge amount of money, I can't afford to buy cars that often and don't know anybody that buys cars often enough to refer them.

I guess if you throw money at them then sure they'll be glad to give you a free windshield.

The only relationship you have with the dealer is making them rich.

You seem upset. I'm not going to tongue wrestle with you about this much, but you sound stupid. I have a big family and as my girls got older they needed cars. How is that throwing money at them any more than you throwing money at Walmart. What you are the only person in your family with a car? Nothing wrong with buying any product from one particular place. And if you can't afford to buy cars often that's your business not mine...
