I just read this whole thread.....no one talked at all about gains....
I've heard that it's something in the range of 3hp gain...nothing big apparently....similar to other systems. But Borla is a different sound. In my opinion I like borla way better. Another question/Concern of mine.......the SS has two big resonators underneath, I would assume that those would congest(compared to Borla Cat-Back) the whole flow of the exhaust...wouldn't you??? Better lungs on a car = better performance right? ie. Aftermarket CAI. Get a tune after CAI and Cat-Back installation and you should be good to go. Agreed??? |

why does anyone care about HP gains unless you are tracking the car?
HP is a high rpm rating.. unless you plan on red lining the car all the time what is the big deal? cat back exhaust is purely for sound, nothing more.. LT's and hi-flows will get your car to breath better but without a real CAI and a tune, again IMO pointless, and if you are not tracking the car why bother? the speed limit most everywhere is 65mph. hard accel will net you a reckless or speed competition ticket, so adding ungawdly amounts of power again unless you track the car is pointless. and IMO $500 + for a axle back that only changes the sound is pure madness. that mod is worth about $150 tops.. I'll never understand the desire for more and more HP on a car that is driven on the street 99% of the time. |

My 2 cents for what its worth...just buy two borla mufflers of your choice and have a decent muffler shop replace the factory cans. I did this but used flowmaster it only cost around 150$ mufflers included. Save your money the axle back is way over priced.

Catbacks don't add HP they just make your car sound BA and they do shed some weight! So your car might gain a little HP due to the weight being less. But your actually not gaining HP... Sounds confusing I know .

Most upgrades are overpriced! Car hobby is expensive. So you kinda gotta pick your battles

Why don't you try shopping around and maybe find a used catback? People are always selling exhausts you might get lucky and run into one.
