I have read many, many times not to mix manufacture's brands as they are formulated to compliment each other, ie., polish-wax.I have been guilty of mixing but I try to maintain. I favor Liquid Glass paint cleaner simply because it seems to do the best job of bringing out the color and removing the cloudy haze. Then top off with the polish/wax by Liquid Glass. The best shine? Can't say, but it is so easy to wipe on and buff off. Also 3M has to be considered perhaps the premier maker of hemicals fo many applications. Their product line is probably the most diverse in the country. Zaino.....too much work!

What are your preferred products for black paint?

If I'm going to go the wax route I love the outcome of this combo:
-Klasse All-In-One
-Poorboys Black Hole Glaze
-Collinite No. 476s (Have tried Souveran and Wolfgang Fuzion... 476 gives similar results and lasts about 40 times longer)

If I'm doing Zaino, which is my more preferred method lately I use this setup:
-Z-AIO
-Z-5 Pro (2 Coat)
-Z-2 Pro (1 Coats)
-With Z-6 in between coats
-Z-8 to finish

On the topic of zaino has anyone tried z-cs? I'm not sure I like the idea of it.

The zaino route tends to be a lot more work, but is very durable paint protection. I'll take durable over a slight change in looks any day on black.

So what products have worked for you?
My co-worker uses the Z-CS ( clear seal ) on his new silver CTS he swears by it. I for one swear by Zaino products. The biggest problem most people have with Zaino ( and it's their fault ) is that they put to much on. Thin coats, especially Z-CS works best. VERY VERY light coats of Z-6 after washing my black car is all that is needed to keep her shiney as hell. I clay bar the car twice a year. Everybody remarks at how great the car looks.

I disagree, if you follow the directions Zaino is the easiest, most durable product on the market!

One comment. Z-AIO ( all in one ) is the old Z-2 with a cleaner. You're using Z-2 Pro. The all in one is not necessary. But..it's your money. IMO Z-2 Pro; Z-5 once in awhile, and Z-6 ok Z- 8 for a show is all that you should need for a black or any color car. Especially if it's a daily driver.

Adams i like it better for the simple fact it doesnt take as long as zaino. Both great products cant go wrong with either of them. For daily driver i just use ice cause i hate waxing a big suv and ice is super fast to use.

I've been told by sal at zaino that zaio is the best base to start with... could be a waste of money, but its spent and the results work good! haha

Zaino would be my first pick. But I have heard great things about
Red moose glaze followed by souveren or wolfgang 3.0 sealant for black.

Formula 113

I know some of you guys are going to think I work for this company, but please believe me I don't. I'm getting nothing for this. I tried this stuff on my Camaro and it has to be the best finish that ever seen. I watched this guy put it on his black vette and it really looked great. Everyone who uses it, raves about it. Just try it. It goes on easy, wipes off easy. You can put this on under direct sun light, I know for a fact because I did it. I was going to "clay" my camaro because it had a "gritty" feeling to the touch, but after using this wax only 2 times it is as clean as glass. this is worth a shot, try it.
Here's the web site. www.formula113ny.com

Forgive me if I am being ignorant, but I am confused about the Zaino product line. It seems like people are using the terms "polish" and "wax" interchangeably when they refer to Zaino. Are polishes and waxes not totally different things? A wax is a sealant and a polish is not - correct? Which Zaino numbers are waxes, and which are polishes?

These are the steps I went through to wax and clean my car for this first time. I was very, very impressed. Very time consuming though. About 8-10 hrs. before everything was applied and that was just with one coat of wax.
+1 meguiar all the way.
