The ZL1 is nice for all the upgrades; better brakes, better clutch, better rear end and more power!!!

The 1LE is cheaper and is lighter and I like the N/A engine too.

Great cars!

hp/liter is just a number to impress, nothing else. I love what Ford did and GM should follow. In the end, the LS7 is the same weight, more compact, HUGE torque, better MPG or equal but it would need a small HP bump since its a 2005 design.

I can't agree more. I think the 1LE is the best looking Camaro.

I think the 1LE is a better platform for just about anything. It already has the looks, just need to pick your poison with power. I will be NA for awhile, you can't get much better sounding then a LSX with a big cam.

As a 1LE owner I say whatever floats your boat is the vehicle you finally end up with. More hp is always what most people actually desire but in my opinion I can be just as dead with my car as the ZL1 or the Z28. It's a hell of a ride and it's just what I ordered and I couldn't be happier and it sure as hell floats my boat. It you drive it you gotta love it!

So as much as we would like our 1LE's we all really wanted a Z28 or a ZL1 but could not afford or would not spend the money to get one. We got a great car for the money with the 1LE ,but if you think you could mod a 1LE to be as good and preform like either the ZL1 or Z28 with a factory warrantee without spending more than it would cost to just buy a ZL1 or Z28 your just kidding yourself.20 years from now a stock un molested ZL1 or Z28 will be collectable and worth a ton of money .And the ILE will be just be another used pony car. I bought mine for the cheap thrills it gives ,but I wanted a Z28 but just could not see spending that much on a toy.
yea i dont see it. Most mods (except magnetic ride) you can do. And most people swap out parts for tracking. just my thoughts. always get what you like the most. otherwise your just wasting time and money wishing.

good luck!

The top dog like the Z or the ZL1 will be worth 10 times more than a SS 1LE when they get to classic status . A 69 COPO Camaro IS WORTH 10 TIMES WHAT A 69 SS Camaro IS WORTH . A 67 327 Vette is worth a fraction of what a 67 L88 or ZL1 is worth. A 1966 Ferrari GTO sold for $17000.00 new ,they have sold one for 30million last year. If you tell me you would rather own a 1LE instead of a Z28 , I would just laugh and think you are crazy.

I would rather own a 1LE than a ZL1, but it is not for collectable resale value. I agree that the Z/28 and ZL1 will be worthy much more down the road. Do you think I am crazy?

OP, I agree with Gonif and I did the upgrade. If you want a car with a supercharger just get the ZL1. You will actually save $$ and in the end have a car that is worth more.

I added twin turbos to my 1LE. In the end I am running a ZL1 drive train and have spent more that I could buy a new ZL1 for. And my car is not worth much more than a stock 1LE and would be harder to sell. I also would enjoy MR after living with my upgraded 1LE suspension.

I wanted something different, which I got, but in the end my car is no more fun than a ZL1 although it is a bit faster. I am not knocking AGP as their kit is top notch. Nor am I knocking other FI types. They are all fun. But bring a full wallet to the party. There are no shortcuts if you actually want to use big power.

Just a word of caution about serious upgrades. Just go in with eyes wide open.

If you want a ZL1 though I would 100% for sure wait until near the end of the year. 5th gen ZL1s will be cheaper then. In the mean time you really like your car. Keep it for now.

With roughly 1% of all 5th gen Camaro's having the 1LE option, I'd say it's a rare car and will be collectable for sure. Haven't compared the statistics but I'm willing to bet the 1LE is more rare than the ZL1.

Anyone who buys a car for the resale value in the future is crazy, period. No one knows what will be worth money in the future and what will not be worth money in the future, couple that with the fact that your car will sit more then anything to keep the miles low. Buy what you can afford to enjoy, if your smiles per dollar is low, get something more enjoyable.

I'm not doing this as an investment... I do finance for a living; I have the 1LE for MY enjoyment! If you are buying cars for your investments may I recommend seeking a financial counselor. You may get lucky and have the car that in 40 years has a 3500% value increase, but maybe not. I just don't agree with the statement that makes it sound like we 1LE owners "settled"... I got what I consider to be one of a handful of remaining American muscle cars. I consider the Corvette, a beautiful car, to be more in the supercar category now. But settle did I ? No! I could be driving a ZO6, but I got what I like. I wish you the best and hope that you find a vehicle that makes you happy. May God bless you and God Bless America!!!

I will be 100% honest though: A $17,000.00 Ferrari selling for $30,000,000.00 is a 176,471% increase and I would buy a ZL1, no I'd buy every ZL1 I could if it could even do a tenth of that and... if you want to check my math take 17,000 x 1761.71=30,000,070.00... That's an investors wet dream.
