I use both, depending on the job. I have Rhino ramps that are extra long. No problem clearing them with my splitter. I also have a couple of floor jacks and jackstands. The ramps are quick and easy, so for an oil change, that's usually what I use.

I used to use ramps but I prefer a Jack and Jack Stands. I have three jacks. I use the low profile one in the front to lift the whole front then jack stands for oil changes.

To change wheels I use my small light weight one with the ZL1 addon pinch jack thing. Works wonders.

And as everyone has said always use jack stands. Since if my car fell without the use of jack stands it would totally crush me to death

I DO NOT use ramps to change the oil and I strongly recommend you do not, either. When you do that, a lot of oil stays in the oil pan. When you use a floor jack, keep the vehicle elevated until the oil drain slows down to a crawl, then lower the jack. Be amazed as oil begins pouring out of the drain plug rapidly again. It is VERY IMPORTANT you drain your car completely level to maximize the oil drain out of the pan. If you're going to leave all that used oil in the pan, why even change your oil?

Ramps do not allow a full oil change because they do not provide a level vehicle.

Then there would be no room under the car. The point of the jackstand is to have the car resting on it not falling on it in the event the ramps imploded. You would spend a lot of time adjusting ramps and stands so all four were supporting the front weight of the car.

I actually jack up only the passenger side of the car when doing an oil change for this reason.

Love My ramps. They are relatively cheap and more stable IMO. Plus changing the oil in the camaro is so much easier with the filter cartridge compared to other vehicles. Love not having to worry about oil draining out from the filter.

No I do it all the time. It takes 30 seconds to put jackstands under the car when it's on ramps.

Same here...I have some 2x10s I have to put before the ramps if I wanna go that route.

I use 3 2x10's cut and stagger them and drive up on them. This gives enough clearance to get under the car.

This is just not true. The oil plug on every vehicle I have ever owned is at the rear of the oil pan at the lowest point. If the front of the vehicle is elevated you will do a better job of draining the pan. I have never seen more oil come out after it trickles by lowering the car, just the opposite. If I jack the car a little higher more comes out. Unfortunately I have a belly pan on my Camaro so I can't verify the angle of the bottom of the pan. On my other cars the pan is slightly lower towards the back to help it drain.

i trust my ramps they have a lot of reinforcement under them. I have had our International 4700 ramp truck up on them with no problems. Granted when that up on there i do put jack stand under it as the front that things weighs 8,000 pounds.
