I hope ours was the last! So in 30 years when I still have it, it'll be somewhat collectable.

I've also seen Formato run 9's in his C7Z 6M with bolt ons and E-85, but Jeremy likes to try things that haven't been done before. So its a mixed bag at this point.

I would love to shed 300 lbs off this ZL1. If the new ZL1 comes in under 3800 lbs and solves the heat soak issues I might be interested.

From a factory produced car? If I am correct I thought that was after it was sent to shelby and it was built there. I guess that would be almost the same but not really?

the only websites I have seen this from are the ones that constantly lie like horsepower kings.

I have seen nothing from ford and I have seen no test data on any new power plant to date. the just got the 5.2L certification june 30th.

if they do something like that it will most likely be 2017 model unless they really fast track it.

this is what I think it will be personally as well. It is the only logical option I see from them. I don't see them certifying a new engine to bring in a special edition camaro. they put the LT4 in the CTS-V I bet it goes in the Z?? camaro.

I wonder if GM will even produce the ZL1, since it was originally only produced in 69, which is what the Gen 5 was based on. I can see them producing a Z28, just not so sure about a ZL1.

I'd be really surprised considering the climate of the current field of competition if Chevrolet opted to not make a ZL1. It's like a segment or niche car at this point that almost requires a entry on their part. I think some folks have the idea of what a ZL1 should be but I don't think that the Hellcat is any form of benchmark for any manufacturers to try and bother with. I think the only similar car that Chevrolet should be worrying about is the GT500 variant if one comes out - which I'm sure it will, also.

Only reason why I mention that is because of some of the previous posts and the supposed need for more power; something closer in line with current models in a completely different segment. I know the LS series is all but put to rest but I still think that an LS9 would be perfect but on the same token, Chevrolet could really set themselves apart by opting to do something that no American manufacturer has done - turbocharge a factory V8.

Depending on the setup, it could have a lot less heat soak and the packaging could clear even the tightest engine bays if located mid-mount.

Agreed. That tiny 1.7L blower is nothing more than a heat pump once it's been spinning for a while. Something needs to change with the LT4 design ASAP.

Interesting find in regards to the Hellcat. I have read that Chryslers 707HP rating is actually at the rear wheels. Motor on the Dyno put out just over 800HP.

well motors are usually SAE rated now so on a strait engine dyno they produce more HP than the SAE rated number

I have seen no hellcat dyno at 707 to the wheels though. dyno's vary so much though I think people put too much into their numbers. some dyno's are so generous and some are just heartbreakers.

most of the dyno's I have seen lead you to believe than there is a bit more than 707hp in the motor but not 800hp or anything crazy.

I found the statement. About halfway down under other Hellcat trivia.

The description says it put down 668hp bone stock. Compensating for a 15% driveline loss, that puts it at 768.2hp at the crank. Not quite 800hp, but more than the 707 rated horse.

I don't see any reason they would detune the LT4 for the Camaro. Even though the 1.7 blower spins insanely high for a stock unit, I still think most of the cooling problems are specific to the tight engine compartment of the C7 not allowing for a proper cooling support system.

BTW - The Hellcat is definitely under rated. I know of 2 of them that dyno'd in the 640-660 rwhp range.
