Do I really need my rear brakes if I have front and rear brakes? Can I just disable my rears?

BTW, how is your vert holding up? Still handles the same? Any squeaks, rattles? Top issues on yours?

Serious question, color me curious.

Love how the (what ifs start flying). Your only required to have one third light not two. So if you do t want if just shut it off and IF some one hits you you can come back here for all the over explained crap you can handle. Boy some of the ideas people come up with are insane. Just a thought. If they rearend you and it smashes the back of your car isn't the tailights going to be broken?

I realize your post is old, but just to let you know, vehicle lighting requirements are Federally regulated. Individual States have NO say in the matter. You can disregard whatever Ohio law you thought you read.

I have the GM high wing and have 2 center mount lights. I guess I never considered unplugging one.

Don't some cars come stock with no center brake lights still? Like some BMWs

It's only obscured to those whose eye level is at or below the top of the dovetail. Larger (taller) cars, SUVs, trucks, etc. would still be able to see it.

To OP: Regarding a lawyer making a case for a "non-functioning" brake light if you simply unplug the window light. You can bet the farm that this could happen and you could lose. I'd either leave it functional or remove it completely. If it's there... YOU are responsible for ensuring it is functioning properly. It would also be a ticketable offense.

What would be the purpose of feeling the need to disconnect one of them? not like you would pick up additional horse power, or take weight off....
