problems shifting into 3rd gear

I've been at the drag strip 2x now and this second time around I wasn't able to get it into 3rd gear. It should be an easy enough thing to do. I'm not overly pushing the shifter to one side. It seems to be harder than expected when I shift normally also. Does anyone know of an issue like this with the manual tranny. I'm not that bad at shifting either. I gave it 4x before I called it quits. Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm...

don't tell GM that you were drag racing... But it could be a syncro...

Does it grind? or just hard to get into the detent?

Is it going 1st to 4th on you? If so, you are dealing with the skip shift.

Sounds suspisciously like skip-shift. Watch the DIC next time it happens.

To the OP, can you descriibe the issue a little more? It is just during a run that you are having problems? What RPM range are you shifting at? As GTAHVIT asked, any associated noises?

Yes I am having trouble with second gear as well. If i run it right to 6200 and try a quick shift to second it grinds until RPM's come down.

I am also having trouble between 2nd and 3rd. I did replace my shifter with MTI racings six shooter and got a little improvement but I too still have like a slight grind going into 3rd. Whats up GM???

I don't think this is a skip shift issue. The 3rd gear engagement throw is pretty clunky even when skip shift is not activated.

2-3 synchros and blocker gone..you likely over revved and or missed a shift.

No its not the skip shift, Its when i am slowly going into 2nd gear from first. Its not all the time, Its as if i didn't pull stright down from first, but i did pull stright down, I have to go into nutural then go into 2nd to get it to work.... I am a girl so i am explaining it in a girly way.
