Npp is fine. All you really gain after cats is a desired sound, not horsepower, breathing, etc. That is, perhaps, not unless you're really up in hp, like 650+.

Don't count out the 229/236 I made 92 rwtq with all my mods from baseline to final dyno and a lot of it came from that cam

I'm surprised to see some guys on here that are so focused on what numbers they make with certain setups. Running a 102mm setup on a stock LS3 is overkill. I've seen LS1's with the stock LS6 intake run 9's. The 102mm intake/TB setup is only worth it if you have forced induction.
BTW....OP what numbers did you end up making?? Very interested to see! |

Most of the gain comes from the 102 TB...not really the intake. Even at that you need ported heads, headers, and a fairly large cam to start to notice a different with the intake/TB combo. The last car we did that put down approx 525 rwhp...the intake and TB combo was only worth another 12 rwhp.

Yes save up at least another $5K+ for a supercharger. LOL.
And in the end the 1LE will be less trackable. However if the 1/4 mile is he track for you then the SC is the way to go. As for Turbos, not sure where they excel. But they are the coolest FI. For a more extreme road track build I would go boltons + Ported Heads, cam, and a 416 kit. I would not go crazy on the cam and mid 550s at the wheels should be possible. Also keep in mind, maybe because of gearing, 1LEs seem to dyno high. Even though they do, in real world competition, they do not measure up to the dyno numbers. Dyno numbers are really mostly relevant to tuning and mods with the runs taken on the same evironmental conditions same dyno against each other. OP, I think you will be very happy with your 1LE after the work is done. Dyno numbers are just for internet racing.

2014 1le ls7 cam, ported heads, long tubes.
OP: hope some objective data here helps. FWIW.
I have a 2013 that pulled 411 and 410 stock at the same Dyno two different days. Then I added shorty headers, mid pipes with HF cats and without resonators, a cheap I K&N CAI (I say it this way since people here bag on K&N but I don't care), and a JRE tune. I'm at 420tq and 437hp. This reading was two days after the initial 411 reading at the same hour of day and the same temperature on the same Dyno at the same shop. For what it's worth. Do yourself a favor and at least call and talk to Ted Jannety. He's tuned hundreds of Camaros. Adding a tune with these mods will make a big difference. For instance you'll want to make sure the car isn't running too lean which can result in detonation. I'm sure people will have complaints and statements that their tuner guy is better. My tax guy is better. My real estate agent is better. Whatever. Point is just talk to someone who installs and tunes this stuff and get another opinion. The shop who installed my mods strongly suggested a tune and when I explained i would do this over email with a guy on the east cost they were pleased to know it was getting tuned and intrigued that tuning can be done remotely. Cars are computers nowadays. I have a link to my thread which I'll post here later. I look forward to seeing what you pull.

Yes of course it will make more HP, but at what cost? You lose a lot of low end torque. So if your building a car to make maximum HP and that's it then go for it. Just because a car makes a certain amount of power doesn't mean it's built well. Setups are key and everyone has a different goal for their car. I was just simply stating that doing a 102mm intake and TB on a bolt on LS3 is overkill, even with a cam and heads.
