But GM is going to have a whole boatload of stuff for this car; both aesthetically and mechanically. You know how SEMA's focus this year is the Camaro? All the full concept vehicles being brought to the show are going to be built and designed by GM, not aftermarket companies.

Well, I'm getting the V6, but I guess the same concepts apply here... I'm going with a short (and I mean SHORT! I really want to just stick the filter on the end of the throttle body, but I assume there will be some sensor or another in the stock intake plumbing that I'll need to adapt. My accent has a MAP sensor, for example) intake, shorty headers, high flow cats, and flowmaster mufflers. All of these mods could be done to the V8, and none of them should void the warranty.
- Xanthos P.S. - with regards to the short ram setup. I plan on opening the front scoop, and I have a feeling that having the intake setup like this will suck in lots of nice, cold air from the scoop and be basically penultimate to having a true ram setup.

I hope that GM puts an option for a better exhaust.

WAITING!

The first thing I would buy would be a radiator insulator, for one simple reason: The weakest part of your car is the radiator. It is a simple matter of physics when I tell you this: Energy is lost through heat. Transmissions, as they lose more and more heat, begin to cause more loss of power. However, that's only a small part - The worst part is the radiator! All sorts of heat is lost through the radiator - in essence - losing the horsepower through heat! That is why radiator insulators help.
The second upgrade I would buy would be an adjustable powerband, so you could load up on low end torque or make it rev to 15000 like a motorcycle; however your mood is for that day. Then with gas getting so expensive I would save some money on oil by getting an oil bypass kit. Modern synthetic oil is very expensive - so why run the risk of getting it dirty by running it through your motor block? Oil bypass kits come with everything you need to run the oil around your motor block where it will do more good. Oil runs cooler, and as a result, there may be horsepower gains!

Mods to new Camaro
If you can do it yourself try the following:
Kook's long tube headers Random Tech high flow cats Borla,Corsa,SLP,exhaust SLP air intake Hurst shifter "If not offered from the factory" Dyno the car and tune it when these products are installed or you are wasting your money. These cars computers are so smart today that the car can actually relearn. What I mean is you can install all the parts in the world but the computer on the car will make the car run stock again if you don't tune the computer for the conponents you install. I learned that on my Vett and GTO the hard way! You would be amazed the power gains when you tune your car! These mods are great because they will not mess with your factory warranty and you will be able to feel the power and hear it! If that doesn't work Mallett's are going to build new Camaro's!!! www.mallettcars.com |
