I'm not sure about warranties I was under my 3/36 still when I went in. Its not that bad of a job if it isn't covered and there's even a YouTube video on it.

It's not like a power steering groan is it? My steering rack was replaced under warranty for this apparently known issue.

It's the posi.

Some groaning is normal. Popping and snapping is not.

Just throw some Royal Purple in there with limited slip additive. Fixed the problem for me on my SS

So you are saying there is a TSB that applies to your 2013 SS? I'm asking because I have the same model year. My car is about to go off of the 3/36 warranty so was thinking if there was a known TSB I would have it checked prior to that.

This was talked about here before. My '10 SS makes a rubbing noise at the rt front tire, only
when I'm backing out of my garage, and turning the steering wheel counter clockwise. It's
done this since new so I don't worry about it. Sounds like the tire is rubbing the inner plastic
skirt.

I think we are are talking about two different things here.
This noise is definitely coming from the right front just like the OP's car.

The TSB also states people may complain of growling from the front end...it may or may not be that I've just heard a lot about it. The differentials don't seem so strong in these cars.

TSB

The TSB had multiple revisions and I believe covered multiple years. The latest number is PI-0137D

Thanks. I hear it from the rear...but sometimes the front. Of course sound can do odd things.

Subscribed. This sounds possible as something that I have begun to notice with mine. Hope it is an easy fix and even though I'm out of warranty, will be covered or be a low $$ amount.

Necro-posting 2015 thread.

I am the third owner of a 2011 SS w/ 28K mileage.

I hear the "groaning" too from the front end.
Most noticeable when the car first starts with cold motor, and when driving slow speed at beginning of outing.
Noise seems to lessen once at operating temperature.

My 2011 SS definitely has hydraulic power steering.
I removed the engine cover, and inspected the reservoir today. Reservoir is filled to correct fill-height.

I've heard a lot of groaning power steering in my days.
This sounds like groaning power steering.
After reading others reporting same issue, I feel more at ease over this.
P.O. drove it onto the curb hard enough to need to replace a control arm and strut. I was worried that this groaning could be some sort of residual effect of the Mustang-impersonation episode by the P.O.
I bought the SS from the used-lot at a jeep dealer. Maybe the P.O. traded it for something better-suited for mounting curbs.

I can live with some minimal power steering moaning sounds. Its a Chevy, not a Mercedes. Not a problem for me.

For anybody who is interested in the TSB for the "groaning" that may be coming from the posi rear end, here it is:
