Just got our IOM RS SS2

We just got our car on Thursday and we really love it. Do all of you feel like it's kind of quiet. I could not beleive how mellow the exhuast sounds. We have the SS2 with Auto trans. I really thought it would sound much beefier than it does. That being said, this is truely an awsome car. I have been reading this page for a while but never posted until we got our car. Now we have to get the stripes painted on and ground effects painted. No offense but we did not want stickers on our car. We got the hockey stick stripe package but then decided we wanted it painted. Does anyone have an IOM car that they painted the ground effects gloss black that they could put up a photo?

Don't have ground effects but someone told me you couldn't paint them. Which makes no sense at all to me. Don't know how you couldn't paint them but that's just what I heard. I think they would look much better painted they actually look cheap black. Congrats onthe car you will love the color. What color stripes you going with? Most people seem to be going with black that's why I went white on my IOM and they really look sick! Post some pics!

Congrats on your car! The exhaust is really tame, (lame) from the factory. One of the first things I am doing is replacing the exhaust. Probably shorty headers with a Borla catback.

My ground effects were painted inferno orange by my ordering dealer, so it can be done. There was talk about GM not warranting painted GFX. By the way, was pulled over by federal ranger on the Nachez Trace yesterday as I cruzed in IOM Camaro. When I handed him my license he said he really just wanted to look at my car.

Ground Effects and Exhaust

The ground effects can be painted. I've seen two cars at the dealership I bought mine at that have been painted. You can't just paint them with regular paint though... There is special additives that must be added.

I have a IOM RS 2SS also with ground effects that are not painted. I also have the factory-installed cyber grey striping. The natural (?) color of the ground effects go well with the striping package. I am not going to paint mine. Oh, and I don't think they look cheap at all (but that's just my opinion).

Word of warning though... Make sure the ground effects are installed properly especially the front. I just lost mine (cruisin' at 80) because they only used the two-sided tape. Now I have to wait for a new one to come in and they tell me it'll be three months because they are on back order!

I totally agree about the exhaust. I have been trying to play with the paddle shifting a little but I have to turn the stereo off because I can't hear the engine revving. I want to remove the mufflers and install an "axle back" system but my wife is not hearing any part of that... There are several on the market to choose from.

I could take pictures but they'd be without the front spoiler... LMK

Hope this helps,
-Bob George

I think the stock exhaust is just fine when you're getting on it. Reving the engine at a dead stop is for "The Fast and Furious" movies!!!

Congrats and nice car! I don't have the gfx but agree about the exhaust. I put on the Borla catbacks a few days after picking it up. Love the new sound of the car. I put up a review of the system with a video. If your interested check it out.
