This is an old school, RWD muscle car, just like dad used to drive (or wish he did). Like an old school car, when the cold weather sets in, its time to put your snow tires on. Michelin Alpins for me, and I drive it through anything less than 2" of snow on the ground. If you are still driving the stock Goodyears, you will begin to lose grip below 50 degrees (at least until the tires heat up). Other summer tires fare better in that lower temp range, such as the Pilot SSs. If you want to or are able to live with a good all-rounder, you can put some all season rubber on. Personally, I like the extra performance in summer and the peace of mind in winter with summer/snow tire seasonal swaps.

I drove mine from KC to Omaha last Feb, it was 40 when I left and 25 when I got there... I didn't have a problem. Another time I went out for dinner and it was 40ish when we cam out it was snowing like a blizzard, I just drove slow and made the hour drive home no problems.

last year it got below 40 here for a good bit. i guess ill just have to plan to put her in hibernation when it gets low 50s and 40s just to be safe.

It's funny reading some of these since I experienced the same thing. I got my car in Feb. 2014 and I had to see what she had so I nailed it. 1st was fine but when I hit 2nd...let's just say I don't want to do that again, scary ride... so even if the daytime temps hit 50 degrees but it's below freezing overnight I would be real careful driving these cars. When they say summer only tires, they mean summer only tires. With that said I think it got to around 35 last night but my car is in the garage and it was over 40 this morning. Driving was no problem this morning but I didn't drive it like I stole it either.

If it's 40 degrees or more, I use the car. I do edge on the side of caution, but I use it as often as I can.

Has anyone here actually HAD cracking to their tires?

Or has everyone been Captain Preparation and replaced them before they would do so?

Drove mine in 0 degree weather last year for couple of weeks and no cracking. And no losing control of the car. I wouldn't recommend it but it's doable. I got winters for this year

Goodyears G2s and Michelins crack in extreme cold temps. I however drove the crap out of my Pirelli P Zeros for years in winter even in snow and no cracking at all. I am accustomed to driving summer only tires in winter.
