I use Mobil 1 or Castrol synthetic in my cars. If you have a short oil change interval (3K miles) they are going to do a pretty good job.

If you still have a powertrain warranty, just make sure it is a Dexos1 approved oil. While some of the suggestions here are very good oils, using them it mayvoid some of your engine warranty. I believe Amsoil does not have any Dexos 1 oils. I'm not familiar with Driven, but did not see it on the list either. From what has been in this thread, Mobil 1, Royal Purple, and Motul (among plenty of others) all have some oils on this list (but check to be sure the one you are using is on the list).

Of course, if you are tuned, or modded and don't worry about the warranty, by all means, find what you like.

I'm going straight to Mobil 1 for my next oil change.

I always used valvoline only because when synthetic oil didn't exist it was basically Pennsylvania oil (quaker state) and Texas oil (valvoline). Quaker state would sludge up much faster than valvoline so valvoline was better and I kind of stuck with them using synthetic oil nowadays. My truck has over 150,000 miles and no problems. I also have been using valvoline in my camaro but today I decided to change and buy Mobile 1. It's the official oil of Nascar so it must good stuff

Rather than "what would you other dudes recommend," I'd go with what Chevrolet recommends.

In simple terms the "Dexos" standard is a set of minimum specs that GM set for worldwide use. In order to display the "Dexos1" seal on their oil an oil mfg must pay GM a royalty fee to put the label on their oil container. Amsoil Signature Series oil meets or exceeds the Dexos1 standard they just choose not to pay the royalty to GM. Doesn't matter if they want to pay for a sticker or not when it comes to warranty. If it isn't approved, then you blow your engine up during use, GM can, and likely will, say it's because of the non-Dexos approved oil and warranty is gone.

It's not the point of whether Amsoil is good enough to be qualified for the approval or not. It's whether it has been approved. You gotta pay to play on the big stage, as everyone always seems to say.

And Amsoil shouldn't say squat about having to pay to play. Amsoil CHARGES CUSTOMERS an annual subscription to become a "preferred customer" or to even be a "dealer". Otherwise, you pay full price.

I've never understood why Amsoil dealers always fight tooth and nail in a struggle to have Amsoil recognized and while it likely is a good choice for a small faction of believers, they seem to have a problem getting wide support. Every Amsoil believer I know always points to this or that study/analysis or whatever to try to foster up support for the product. I've never seen any of them give samples away to try.

They're like the Rand Paul of petroleum products always having to tell someone how good they are. Maybe their product is good, I dunno. Might be ok oil, but I'm turned off by the pyramid-style business model of marketing and won't buy it because of that. That's likely the reason for their high price point.

Regardless of the oil you choose, make sure you pick the correct type and weight for your application and change it at regular intervals for your intended use and you likely won't have any issues concerning oil-caused problems.

Advance Auto here in S. FL has a special thru Dec 2 - 5qarts M1 EP plus M1 EP filter for 37.99. Plus the extra 3q. Normal per/qt is 9.99, so if this is your thing, the numbers look pretty good. Non-EP pkg is 35.99.
