Its already been done. there is a company that makes swap parts for the Miata and rx8... somewhere in the lfx section the owner of the lfx Miata swap was posting. looked like a fun ride.

Gotta wait till Friday or Monday now but this should be an even nicer one!
Do their prices include shipping?

The prices on LKQ online do not include shipping. Shipping for me was going to be 225 but I actually ended up ordering it through our local LKQ rep. I'm not sure if they sell to the public or if it's just LKQ online that does. Through my local rep there is no shipping but they have a 100 core charge where the online does not.

Also they don't update the LKQ online website very often so some that you see there might be gone already.

Fuel pump is done. It really wasn't bad on the lift. But I can see how hard it would be laying on your back. If I didn't have the shop here to work out of, I probably would have cut an access hole.

Good to hear people have some luck with LKQ. I tried for over two months to get a diff and axles. Pictured are some of the A condition axles with only 1000 claimed miles they sent, all where bad. Going on three weeks waiting on a refund, put on a credit card for just such occasions when disputing charges is needed.
Seems to depend on the rep and what yard they get the parts from I guess.

I have bought engines and transmission from LKQ for years. Never had an issue. The last engine I purchased was a 2014 Camaro LFX with only 4 miles on it! Certified. Got it for $1200, delivered to my shop!!! When I got it I looked it over, pulled the intake and sure enough, looked brand new. Came with engine harness, too. This is the engine I am building for my LLT conversion. (If it works) I have a 2010 Twin Turbo LLT. LKQ also supplied me with an automatic transmission to go with it, so I'll be ready to go with an almost brand new Eng/Trans.

I am fighting with one bolt on each turbo. How did you guys get one of these four mounting flange bolts in??? I may just have to get a little shorter bolt for those corners.

Yeah that one bolt is tight, I used a Snap-on 1/4" chrome swivel socket and a 12" extension. It was the only thing that would get it for me.

Good to hear its not a company wide issue. Perhaps if you have a good contact for them that helps you out you could let me know? This was the first time I had tried LKQ and it left a bitter taste. I'm certain our rep that claimed his wife just walked out on him the week we originally ordered had something to do with my issues. He seemed slightly distracted every time we talked for some reason.
BTW your build looks really nice. How early in 2016 you planning on having the transplant done?

No, I mean the bolt will not go in. There is not enough clearance between the turbo and its flange.

I cant remember I might have had to loosen the other three bolts and start the tight one first with the turbo loose. They all went in though. So did you get the new style downpipe and vbands with your kit? If so you should post some pics up.

Finally got my used engine. It doesn't look as pretty as I was expecting/hoping but it'll do. At first I doubted if it really only had 5,000 miles on it because of how dirty the intake valves and piston tops were. But after talking to Tracy from RX and VTSummit from here on the forum I've confirmed it. VTSummit actually ran some numbers off tags on the engine block and said it came back as a 2015 2LS that was salvaged and had its last service at 49XX miles. I pulled the oil filter and it looked brand new and the oil was very fresh and clean.

It's just amazing how dirty the intake valves are after only 5000 miles. Tracy showed me some pics from a 2K miles motor that were just as bad and sent me a link to a YouTube video of a brand new LT1 from a Stingray with only 5000 miles that looked just as bad. It happens quick on these DI engines!!

I'll post up some pics of the intake valves after while.

We do not speak his name here.

But I am excited you already got the new engine. This is turning out to be a quick turn around.
