My car is not a daily driver so XM makes no sense to me, I listen to Podcast in all my cars and very rarely listen to FM at all

I've been listening to the promo and loving it.
I did have XM a year ago but since i called them two days late they said i'd have to pay the whole month, full price. Refused to deal at all with me which was strange since that last time the Canadian guy was super friendly; sounded like an indian guy this time (and a real a-hat too). They can piss up a rope and i sincerely hope they enjoy my call blocker. I guess i need to check out this Pandora thing before i wear out my cd player.

I need mine, well sort of. I cant stand FM radio. I drive a truck and i have to have my sirius or else I'll go freaking insane. My free trial ends on Dec 1 and I reup'd for 6 months, even though I'll only be in the car less than a month in that 6 month period. But, still, I cant stand FM radio and have to have it. Well, sort of.

SiriusXM tried to increase my one year subscription to $200. I called to cancel and they reduced to $90/year. That company must be getting desperate.

I enjoyed SiriusXM's yacht rock special channel this past September. Also, if you like more than music, there are news/politics channels and there are comedy channels that terrestrial radio doesn't broadcast.

Sirius is OK. It plays some of the same songs over and over again at least whenever I check the one radio station I actually like

Sirius/XM is great, especially when its virtually free. listen when and wherever you want to almost anything you want. Pays off dividends in the mountains and hard to reach signals. I have no idea why I still have it but I do since cars inception... 5 years and still going..

Like so many other things....its become an overpriced under maintained money hog. The sound is horrible (sounds like you listening through a tin can), the good stations that are left have become the typical lazy top 40 only.....they have replaced a lot of the good station with free stations. I paid for satellite radio to escape the boring mundane top 40 snooze fest local stations. Now its gone. They have killed themselves by being lazy and money hungry. Only time I listen is when its free......and then they only turn on the boring stations. Way to go Sirius/Xml......that's how lure in new subscribers!

The subscription is radio ID specific and ownership specific and not transferable to other vehicles or anyone else. Unfortunately, xm does not offer lifetime anymore as I think that is the only way to go with them. in our other daily drivers, we have not renewed the trial subscriptions |

I just renewed my XM subscription 2 weeks ago and this is what I paid:
For 2 vehicles with XM's "All Access" plus internet listening: $286.00 for one year (includes music royalty fees and taxes). This comes to a cost of ~$23.83 per month for 2 vehicles plus internet listening or ~$11.92 per month per vehicle including internet listening. Not including the internet listening fee of ~$48 per year, the rate for each vehicle with the "All Access" programming would come to ~$9.91 per month or ~$118 per year per vehicle. Some of you may consider this too much to pay, others may consider it reasonable or a good rate. It's purely subjective and my decision is based solely on "value for cost". At this point in time, I've been an XM subscriber with at least 2 vehicles for a little over 7 years and have NEVER encountered any of the alleged "incompetence" or difficulty negotiating what I consider a reasonable rate or am willing to pay. In these 7 years, I have never had an issue with XM keeping my CC # on file. After providing my payment information, I ask that my CC # not be kept on file for any other purpose other than to authorize the current payment. On a couple of occasions, I had forgotten to renew my subscription and was charged the regular rate for a few days (prorated daily - which is much more than I'd be willing to pay for XM service). Once I've negotiated a rate with which I'm comfortable, they credited the prorated daily rate I was charged back to my account and back-dated my subscription start date to the day on which it would've begun for the forthcoming year had I renewed on time. Overall, my experience has been that it's very easy to negotiate with the reps at Serius / XM with a little patience, some basic manners, tact and diplomacy. If you're not able to get a rate you want speaking with a customer service rep, ask to speak with a "subscriber retention specialist" who may have a bit more room in offering a better rate. Unless there is a special subscription offer in effect, I always use the rate I paid the previous year as a starting point for my negotiations (if I was willing to pay that rate last year I'd be willing to pay it again this year - although, it's not unrealistic to think the rate(s) won't go up for the forthcoming year's subscription). My advice, if asked, would be to educate oneself about the service plans and rates for each one as well as exactly what you paid last year, as a basic starting point for your negotiations. If you park your vehicle for "x" months during the winter, consider that in your negotiation as well. As final food-for-thought, please don't sh*t on the reps who're doing their job. Some of you would be wise to remember that you, too, work for an employer who has expectations of you in carrying out your duties in your company's interest and I'm quite confident you, too, would be wholly unappreciative if customers spoke to you or talked about you or your company in a disdainful manner.

Here's an example--- a real conversation--- of a Sirius XM rep "doing his job:" Me: "Hi, I recently purchased a vehicle that comes with a free six- month trial of Siruis XM. I'd like to enroll in my free subscription, please." Rep: "Okay, it'll be $59 per month... please give me a credit card number." Me: "But, this should be a FREE trial period." Rep: "Oh, it IS free. But you have to pay for it." Me: "But, if I PAY money for it, then it is not free..." Rep:"Sir, it IS free. You just have to pay for it. It's only $59 per month for your free trial period." Me: "But... if I am paying money, then that is NOT 'free...' How can you say it is free if I have to pay for it?" Rep:"Sir... I will repeat... it IS free. Please give me your credit card number, because you MUST pay $59 per month for it to be free!" I am not making this up. This is also not the only example I have of utter, complete, WTFishness coming out of the mouths of these incompetent fools. Yep, it took rocket scientists to put the satellites in the air, and that technology is very impressive. However, it seems to me that perhaps equal opportunity laws required them to keep their employee- average- IQ at around 100, and with leagues of rocket scientists handling the tech aspect, it required them to hire complete imbeciles for customer "service." I stand by my position that the service reps for this company are the weak link. I'm the first to offer praise and accolades to anybody who performs a job well done... but the flip side of that is, when I encounter IMMENSE stupidity, I'm going to call it out for what it is. Any Sirius XM executives reading about this should take it as a hint that they could vastly improve their company by fixing the weak link... better hiring, better education, better monitoring... and a complete ban on hiring vegetables for these positions. Betcha they all have to wear bibs, maybe even little cups to catch the drool when the forget to slurp it back in. |

Mine was due to expire in August. I called to see if they had any deals. The JERK told me no...."do you want me to cancel you right now?" I told him NO since I still had 10 days on my contract...he said he would be happy to cancel me that very day....again. I called corporate. They called me back within hours and extended my annual contract again at 60% off and were appalled at how their rep had treated me.
